Rear sump oil pan is in. Clears the front diff just like I thought.

Slapped the trans on the motor and set it all in place. Clears front diff by about an 1 1/2” on the drivers side. Just need to push the firewall back about 2” and the motor mounts will line up with room to move around.

Moving along now. I can pull it out and install all the new parts, clean up the motor really good and wait for the harness.

Motor is on its own weight now. Everything clears, need to make a trans crossmember, and get all the proper hardware.

But, I’m excited now, ready to keep pushing on it to get it back on the trail and road.

    Apparently I haven’t put out a YouTube video in 9 months. I wonder why…. It’s cause I suck, lol.

But, I’m working on that. Need to catch up with the motor swap and other things. I’m still waiting for some cooler weather to get in the garage and start working on the truck again, my little ac doesn’t keep up when it’s 100* outside.

Need to rip the dash out. Pull the engine bay harness and a bunch of misc stuff. I can get a trans crossmember fabbed up while I’m at it too.

06294994-FE67-4E89-8B5E-A834818247B7.jpg I have busted hump on this thing the last couple weeks. Stripped it down, cleaned up the parts and the motor.

    -Fabbed up a transcrossmember
-Braced the motor mounts and finished welded them. Threw some paint on them too
-Painted the valve covers in red, closet thing off the shelf I could find to match the truck yet. It’s not perfect but it’s red
-New gaskets and seals for the valve covers installed
-Installed the oil pan with gasket now
-Installed all the accessories, new a few little bits to finish them up
    -New thermostat, housing and gasket
    -New plugs

Headers will be here Tuesday and the wiring harness should be done in a week or two. Once I have the harness I can finish installing the plenum, intake and all those gaskets.

Then I can drop the motor and trans back in the truck and really get to the hard part of this install.

But, it’s progress and I’m stoked. Cheers to the new year’s shenanigans!

272012D6-C34A-40D8-8CB3-0F2390EDDE5F.jpg Finally pulled the original harness out of the truck. Wasn’t terrible, found the glove box comes out pretty easily. Access to the ecu and 4wd control module is right behind the airbag mount.

Boy howdy, I am in for it. This would officially start the hard part of the swap lol

Me too. Glad I took some time off to knock some of it out. Not being rushed, trying to work nights and weekends on it helped a lot.

It sucks walking away when you're in the middle of something, but all the time adds up!
If I was tackling a big project like this in chunks of time, I'd probably keep a to-do list and a log book so I could remind myself where I left off last.

Well it’s been almost two years since the truck drove by itself. It did that today. Finally got enough done to drive it around the neighborhood.

Have some sensors to clean up and adjust, some more exhaust work to do and put the bumper, hood and other random crap back on.

It’s looking like it will make it out for the weekend :burnrubber:

Been chasing electrical gremlins for a couple days. Started with no idle, unless given throttle. Then, went to no acceleration and stalling when I would let off throttle.

Now, we have a minty idle. Acceleration and no stalling.

Throwing parts on it to have it ready for the weekend.

Cause of all the problems- Chinese ignitors. Factory Toyota ones solved it
