I was watching the Toyota hearings today and heard the one Japanese guy say that Tacomas had a very high rate of unintended acceleration problems .I had not heard that Tacomas were having the issues other than the floor mats .Can anybody confirm this ? Are Tacomas having the same issues and alot of them with unintended acceleration ? more so than other Toyota cars and trucks ?

I think with the Tacoma it's more of a high rate of intended acceleration! I know I have experienced it :D

wow really? well today when i was at my dealership before everything went wrong,

one guy i talk to alot said that we may have a recall for our driveshafts :goingcrazy:, and that the floor mat problem should be fixed if the customer feels it needs to be.

I am not worried about it personally in fact I would by another Toyota today and will likely always own Toyotas and Hondas .Every Toyota I have ever owned has been a great car or truck they always exceed my expectations in fact my first 22 re I have no idea how it took the abuse I put it through .I though for sure it would have blown up but it kept going day after day year after year.

It happened to me once six month ago but I know the dealer doesn't have the knowledge to fix the problem. They will blame the floor mat or the driver so I just drive my truck with caution waiting to happen again so I can switch to neutral at the moment.

I had it happen today. I was sitting at a stoplight when my buddy who I just found out is an undercover cop pulled up next to me. The light turned green and I wasn't even trying to accelerate, but I accelerated so hard that I popped a wheelie. It kept accelerating for what must have been at least a 1/4 mile. Then a train clipped me and wrecked my truck. Luckily, my cop friend, Brian, owed me a 10 second car and gave me the keys to his ride. It was CRAZY!!! I'm posting this from Mexico.
