Perfect timing am I right? Only a couple weeks to go.

Closer to 4 in NE Wa and close to 350 about 5 minutes away in Idaho.

You can afford a full tank of gas regardless of price. A quarter tank is a quarter tank. When your guage hits 3/4 fill it up. Cost the same as going from e to 1/4 and might just save your ass in an emergency.

It was around $3.30 a gallon when I was out there about a month ago. CA is to 5-6 a gallon lately. I was so happy to see $2.92 at the Scottsdale Costco when I got back.

I don't know how the Californian's put up with the property, income and gas taxes unless they have a really good career.

I guess you’re not familiar with economic concepts like supply and demand, less driving as we get away from the summer months and the weather gets colder, and winter gas being less expensive to produce. Gas prices peak in the summer, and drop in Sep/Oct toward average lows in the winter. It happens every year. Not to mention it’s an international market, and the biggest impact on any single gas station’s price is, on average, state tax.

I hit Costco in the burbs of Portland. $3.29.
Tacoma is parked. I inherited a 2012 RAV4 from the wife when we bought her a new 2024 CX5.

It's $2.89 here. That's up about $.50/gal. GA suspended the gas tax temporarily after the hurricanes. For a while it was closer to $2.40

Im in Tualatin and most stations are around $4 a gallon for 87. We were down to $3.50 for a little bit in the summer.

Yeah, I did a cross country drive a couple weeks ago.

Farthest I got from my home on the east coast was Washington State. Everything was fine through Idaho and then first gas station I stopped at in Washington; zombies with purple hair everywhere and by far the most expensive gas I saw driving across the country.

And that’s why I have a Costco card

I just find it’s more genuine to talk about the street price for regular gas stations during these kinds of convos.

That’s mainly because the state gas tax rate in Washington is double Idaho’s. Washington’s tax rate on gas is top five in the country.

Yeah much of the variation in national gas prices within the lower 48 is state taxes. Everything from 68 cents (Cali) to 19 cents (Mississippi).

Think about what will happen if all this EV nonsense actually does become a bulk of the on road traffic.

No gas tax to collect. So who will pay for all the stuff (roads) that that funds now?

Love my i3. I charge it at night and it costs me basically nothing to operate.

Most states charge gas tax fees for ev registration. They take the average mileage driven per year and divide it by the average mpg of registered cars In the state. That calculation gives them the average gallons consumed per driver. They take the average gallon consumed and multiply it by the state gas tax. So say the average driver consumed 600 gallons per year and your state gas tax is .70$ a gal. That total would be 420$. That total is added on top of your annual registration fees. While you don’t pay fuel surcharges with an ev you still pay fuel taxes.
