I grew up in a 2002 Tundra, my dad eventually had another truck and the Tundra sat in the back yard for a couple years until he got a wild hair up his you know what and decided to go start it. Threw a battery charger on for a bit and it fired right up. Drove it up to the shop with 3 flats and pumped them up and its been good to go since. They are great trucks! Its why I bought a Tacoma.

My 2013 had the factory battery for 7 years. My wife’s car (a Scion) from 2012 out lived my truck and was just replaced summer before last. They do last, was very impressed.

Millions of cars start everyday during the winter at temperatures like that. It’s good that it does what it’s designed to do but not something spectacular.

Currently -3° with the wind chill here. I daily a honda civic as of recently, but my 2007 tacoma fired up immediately. Not sure how old the battery is, bought the truck 3 years ago and the battery was already in it. Love my taco.

BT is VERY hard to get here. There's a line waiting for it every time liquor stores get a shipment which is only several times per year. I order mine from an on-line dealer in, you guessed it San Diego.

There's always one in every crowd.
Though not spectacular, I was both pleased and surprised that my just under 5 year old battery started my '18 this morning, especially when so many here complaint about the OEM Toyota batteries are crap and don't last.

I do keep floor mats in it, just didn't have them in when the photo was taken as I had just finished vacuuming the carpet.

Probably more surprising that the battery is still good than anything. The battery on my '19 4runner was getting flimsy last winter already, so it's been replaced. To be fair, I've had it since January of '19 and put almost 90K miles on it so far. Pretty good considering I don't drive it to work.

This is from the second week I had it. We had quite the cold spell. It was brand new, but sounded like an old ass man when it first started in the morning.

My dad has a 04 OR with 275k. He beats it all to hell and people still offer him 13k for it. I definitely believe you got an offer like that for your truck. Looks super clean.

Yup, only once over 10 years ago a dead battery left me calling my brother for a jump. It was my fault for not replacing a 9 year old oem delco battery sooner in my tundra.

I don’t think it’s about one being in every crowd it’s just your thread is a little misguided. The batteries are not made by Toyota in a Toyota factory using special Toyota parts. They are made by Johnson controls. They also make ever start Walmart batteries and a half dozen others with different stickers on them. So it’s cool you have a decent battery but it has absolutely nothing to do with Toyota or any other vehicle it happens to be installed in. The title of this thread should be Johnson controls makes a great battery. Also if you are ever surprised your battery starts your engine it’s probably time to replace it.

Actually, I owned and opperated a chain of auto parts stores for 16 years and bought, sold and warranted literally thousands of auto, truck and equipment batteries. So know a bit about this. And Johnson Controls does not make all batteries. Actually about 8 companies make auto batteries most notable are Exide, East Penn Manufacturing and the company that owns Johnson Controls Battery division. I have actually visited all three of these companies manufacturing facilities.

I was just started the thread because I'm generally impressed with my Tacomas quality as neither have been back to the dealer since I initially drove them off the lot new. Sorry if this thread bother a couple of you.

I hear from TW those OEM batteries are crap. But my previous vehicle for 16 years was a Toyota and had one replacement Toyota battery that I sold with it still operating. So far this current Toyota battery has lasted five years strong. Only one replacement in twenty years. So I recommend Toyota batteries! Not those crappy OEMs!

im 7* out -1 Wind chill and it was slow to start with a 4 year old OEM battery. So looks like your mileage may vary applies.
