Ridgeline is having its share of issues too. A few have posted already that the whole dash lit up like a Christmas tree and vehicle had to be towed in. Found to be faulty wiring harness. Also, doors hard to close because Honda did not put a cabin relief vent, or its not working properly, issue not yet resolved. The dual action tailgate mechanism is breaking, there was one member on there that had the latch break while they were going over the truck at the dealer right after he just signed all the paperwork.
I haven´t checked out any Chevy forums because there is nothing that Chevy makes that interest me, but I am sure they have problems too.

    +1

Drove 3 2016s, wanted a Quicksand TRD, was hounded by dealerships as I researched every forum I could which lead me to TW. For me, I ultimately couldn't justify the $$ for a first run vehicle of any make and. Coming from 30 yrs of a sports car background and this being my first truck, I wanted to be informed.

Based on research, needs (and wants), I found and landed on a mint condition Black 04 TRD Offroad and modding it now. Wallet getting thinner but its replaced my racing hobby so wife is happy. :ballchain:

TW has been invaluable for the modding information and the hilarious entertainment.

Now: anyone have ICONs they want to donate?

The day before I purchased my 16 Taco, I looked at a 2016 GMC with every option. It was used with 7100 miles. MSRP was just under $55,000, asking price from the dealer wss $41,999. So other trucks get traded too, we just don't lose $13,000 if we decide to trade ours.

Yeah but if you know what you're doing buying a domestic truck you can get 10 grand off sticker. Pretty common actually.

That just means the sticker is grossly inflated. Marketing tactic.

Well,I love my truck and so does my 13 year old daughter. In 3 years it will be hers and I will probably by a new truck for myself, and yes it will be a Toyota.

You're going to give a $30,000 truck to a 16 year old? You're nuts. I highly recommend a safe beater instead. Trust me on this.

Dude do what you want, I traded a 15 for a 16 and a 14 silverado for my 15, life is short, you work hard get what you want. I'm just saying its never actually a financially wise choice to trade so early, especially for what some would consider essentially the same truck, you lose money no matter what such are vehicles. But our trucks do hold value so the loss is usually very small and less of a hit. No worries man, not personal, just saying its not something your financial advisor would recommend. lol.

That's right and why I'm hanging onto.my 2016 despite the issues. Plus I do like the truck in most ways. Just really annoyed by some of the problems

When I was looking to buy the Tacoma, several dealers asked if I would be interested in used ones. I was hesitant, but checked them out anyways. Turns out a lot of the used ones they had were actually new, typically with less than a few hundred miles. They were fleet vehicles/rental vehicles that were allocated and spoken for but the payments/contracts fell through. Legally they had to be sold as certified pre owned even though they never had an owner. Was it BS? I dunno, but I physically saw groups of used ones with less than a few hundred miles on them. They didn't have any manuals though so I bought new. Plus the price difference wasn't that much but the dealers were pushing hard to move them.

No owner's manuals? When I bought my certified pre-owned Tacoma from a dealer I asked for manuals and they made sure I had them. The send me on my way with a full tank of gas too, possibly because I asked. I'd go back to that dealer again too bad the are a way from where I live (Foothills Toyota in Burlington WA).

No the 4.3 is 285 Hp. The 5.3 in the Sierra 1500 regular cab is a beast and has 383 pounds of TQ
and 355 hp. Out does the 3.5 and the Taco plus better MPG.

Vinyl seats and floors. Manual windows, door locks, and transmission. 4 wheels. Regular cab. This is what I want in a small pickup but no one makes it anymore. Currently looking for low mileage Rangers, seems like they were the last.

I just have no desire or need for all the electronics.

    What you said ^^^

One of the primary reasons I chose my '04 over the '16. for every electronic doo-dad, there is a gremlin waiting to screw me in 3 years (or less). I've chased more OBD sensor lights, CELs, ABS false alarms, etc. than I care to recall throughout my years of modding cars. :burnrubber:

Screw the fancy electronics; just make the engines and suspensions superior.

    Old guy rant off.

Agreed. For me though the nearest Toyota dealer is 70 miles away. It would make warranty issues a bit of an issue to get back down the hill to get the vehicle fixed. My 06 Tacoma was very reliable. While the issues identified on the forum may be limited in compared to the total sales of the new Tacoma, I can't yet bring myself to purchase a 3g Tacoma.

I am in no great hurry to purchase. I will see how things shake out down the road. imo, the Tacoma is getting over priced. Much like the GMC twins (though they offer more for the same price).

The warranty is only so good. If the manufacturer plays the "normal for vehicle" card....warranty is dog shit.
