My brother just bought a AC Silverado with the 4.3 v6. It's got over 300hp and rides like a Cadillac, but it's really gutless. The ride makes up for the lack of power, but I'm surprised it's that slow with the HP it makes. Not dangerous slow, but still surprising. I'd get the 5.3 if your getting a silverado..

You know I would be upset too if I had so many problems. Only thing I would do different from smit is just to take it to the stealer and take something else.:p:rofl:

Mine had 4.3 engine too and it was more than enough power for my needs.

That 4wd weight must make some difference. I've driven a double cab 4x4 Silverado with the 4.8L v8 and I thought that was a really great motor for the truck. I don't know if they still offer that motor though.

If I was going 1500 I'd settle for none less than the 6.2L. That's what I had in my last 1500. It's a kick ass motor.

I had a 2014 5.3L 4wd Z71 and it was a beast, quiet, lots of goodies, got better gas mpg than my 2016 Tacoma, just didn't fit me, cost only $3k more too, $35k OTD for it in Sept 2014.

Looked at Tundra. Feels dated. Also they don't have great reviews bounced up against other full sized trucks from what I've seen. But primarily because Toyota has not earned my repeat business I feel in not taking care of my tacoma. Edit: also if I'm going back up to a full sized might as well go big and get the 2500 Duramax...may get a toy hauler and UTV

I had a 2005 LT2 crew cab with the 5.3. I wouldn't think the 4.8 would pull the full size with 4x4 all that well, but shows what I know.

I'm surprised about reviews. I spoke to several people and all what I hear is only good things. All what it needs is oil change that's it.

I think driver/owner feedback is solid. Industry reviews seem to be down I think because it's an older dated platform

My father has a 2006 silverado 4.3 4x2, my grandfather has a 2008 2500 6.2 4x4 and my brother a 2016 AC 4x4 4.3 and you can see a huge improvement in quality over the generations. Aside from being a little slow my bro's new truck has a really quality interior. And its just a work truck package with upgrades. I was impressed with it.

What you get mpg and feature wise, the tundra is WAY behind the rest. Would not surprise me if Toyota kills it off after this gen.

Mine was crew cab with 4x2 and it pulled my family(2 adults and 3 kids) and loaded 6.5' bed with camping stuff no problem.
