Smitty99 has just as much right to express his problems on TW as the rest who talk about the good things. If I were in his shoes and got the truck with the problems he has I'd be pissed and squawking too. I'm actually quite surprised he puts up with as much shit as he does from some of you and still remains very civil about it as he does. All he wants is his truck to function as designed and to be happy with his purchase like the rest of us. He's not throwing in the towel and giving up, he's using the process to try and get it fixed and sometimes venting his frustrations here.

I'm sure many of you would bitch a lot more about a lot less with your trucks if they were as half the problems he's had and trying to lawyer up as he has not. He's trying to work the process and gathering data as he goes and I will give him the leeway he needs to vent. He's having to walk the walk so deal with his talk. I do and I hope it works out for him in the end.

As for his initial post in this thread, I could see a salesman wonder how he's going to move another mid-sized truck in a lot full of full sized. He also might be a little worried that the Toyota interior might make the Chevy's look cheap when compared side by side.

Who knows what the salesman was really thinking at the time.

It was surprising for sure especially being a full crew cab with 4x4. It has a really nice growl to it as well. I thought it was excellent really. I wouldn't hesitate to buy that motor for a second. On the other hand I would only get the 4.3 with 4x2 configuration. 5.3 has always been a great motor..

Bet that got better mileage than my 5.3. It had plenty of power, I couldn't imagine the 6.2L, that must light up the rear wheels.

The difference is that instead of staying in his own threads to trash this truck model, he searches out every tech question and thread with even the smallest concern about a possible issue and only puts out negative shit. That is beyond the normal unhappy customer and pretty much whiney troll status. YMMV

My brother is averaging 22-23mpg on his 20 mile commute with the 2016 4x4 4.3. That's impressive for as large and heavy as it is.

Agree on that, it is outdated. I think reason why T doesn't change anything on it is because it's ideal engines.

My grandfathers 2008 2500 AC 4x4 has the 6.2L (something like 350hp/350tq) that's approx, but it feels extremely light on it's feet unloaded. The best I could get for mpgs with it was around 14-15 mpgs unloaded and babying it. You're never wanting for power with that motor though.

Nothing wrong with busting his balls, I do it too but he knows when I'm doing it... I don't just trounce his posts as being full of shit and negative, many of them are full of useful information and made me take a very critical look at my truck. I've learn a lot from his issues and the problems he's run into trying to get it fixed.

I think too much is being read into this. Early trading happens all the time...with all makes and models. We just happen to notice Tacomas (obvious reasons). We just don't notice Malibus, Camrys, Fusions, Frontiers, etc. People change their minds frequently once the novelty wears off. Sometimes needs change. Sometimes people get in over their head and desperately try to trade to lower payments. There are lots of reasons for it. This same thread can probably be found on many forums.

Well like anyone else on the internet, take what they say positive or negative with a grain of salt and decide how you feel about your purchase by your own experience.
