Here's the PakRax version I had before:

    https://pakrax.com/collections/toyo...-tacoma-tailgate-panel?variant=30310492569705

I purchased it here on a black Friday deal:

    https://state48overland.com/products/pakrax-05-current-tacoma-tailgate-panel

It worked great! My buddy is still using it now. Aluminum is the way to go in my opinion.

A tailgate is great for working on a chainsaw. I personally wouldn't use one to chop up food. :hungry:

Aluminum is about 50 times as stiff, resistant to bending (which is different than breaking), compared to HDPE. So even though it’s three times heavier for the same thickness, you can use a much thinner piece. Which is why the aluminum part can be much thinner and stiffer/stronger than the plastic. I don’t really get these HDPE tailgate boards … despite my recent post I don’t do much chainsawing on my tailgate but it does get dirty and I’d hate to have to scrub it down rigorously just to chop a few veggies when I’m out out camping.

This is good to know. My wife does some landscaping jobs on the side and uses my truck to haul mulch, dirt, gravel, etc. and it always gets chunks stuck/wedged inbetween the bed and tailgate.

Got a few nice loads of Oak from a few houses away. Tree guys were cool they brought me and left a bunch to buck up. They ended up jumping in and bucking up wile I loaded up my truck.

I'm late to this thread, but only one side of the gapshield is taped. It's someone struggle with it, they installed it wrong. It can also work really well and a bulb seal during the winter months!

Haulin up a few sheets of 3/4 plywood for a couple woodworking projects with my dad over the holidays. Also, wrapped up incase of rain. Pink foam between bedcover and plywood and some more pink foam between up against the window. Probably not the safest tie down with the climbing carabiners, but will do for a 4hr drive. Any suggestions for straps whose hook fits in the cleat?

That looks scary! From a safety standpoint, I would put the plywood lower in the box away from the window.

There is an extra strap in front that pulls it away from the window like tail end. It definitely didn't go anywhere. If I had an extra set of cleats in the middle I would have moved it a few more inches down.
