EVERYONE check out Coles post #1936 about our TWorld gathering in Nemadji State Forest next Saturday! I know it’s a holiday weekend but we’ll be home in plenty of time for drinks in the neighborhood Sunday night! Come have a couple with some Taco owners. I’m planning on some rib eyes and a couple cocktails by the campfire! Bring your cooler and camp chairs.

93E63211-CC00-47BE-9138-F781224C0BDE.jpg Hey Jon, I spent about 3 hours today polishing roof, hood, front quarters and passenger door you can barely see remnants but you have to get real close. I’ll do rear doors and fenders tomorrow night out of gas now. I used meguiars #2 fine cut cleaner and the clay bar and polish afterwards with some ceramic insulator wax to finish. Fresh paint on the sliders too boys! No more rust for the summer.

Depends on what you are looking for. We’ve done badlands to devil’s tower off-road the whole way, then two additional years of just plodding around the black hills proper.

went a few years ago with couple of the guys from here. I wouldn't really call it overlanding because we just camped, then went out for the day on trails. last year I went with some guys from minnesota overlanding and we did move each day to new sites and stuck to back roads or trails. It seemed hard to stay completely off road the whole time, like we always hit some sections of regular dirt roads or paved roads from time to time. we started on the northeast end, went south to buffalo gap, then back around to the badlands.

id really recommend the indian creek area, its a lot of fun, easy terrain. When I tried to go last year they had a lot of rain right before tho and we had to turn around because the banks were too soft.

@0:23 in the first vid, you can see some folks camping on the escarpment to the left as the route drops down to the basin. That is one of the only dispursed camping areas in that part of the unit between Senic and the Res down bombing range road. SoDak guard uses it for their night infiltration training flights. Pretty cool to be above the helos watching them play.

You can camp on sheep mountain table if you pass the choke point of the table by the big juniper patch. This puts you on the res, and may require a toll. We shared some beer with the “friendly” locals that came to see what we were doing on their lands... but all was well after half a case of primo was consumed.

From Sheep Mountain table to buffalo gap is grated gravel most of the way via co2. About 2mi of slab and you can make it back past hot springs and the jump across 185 to the western “island” of the NF, or turn north and worm your way to deadwood/spearfish areas without much more than crossing over paved routes. Most routes on the MVUM are easy, get on the more remote and smaller stuff and you’ll be moving downed trees and working out your gate opening/closing skills.

Check out the bald peak just east of cement ridge, one of my favorite spots to camp. Fits about 4 trucks and has amazing views.

There is a full ghost town on private land at Tinton, I talked my way into getting access for some pictures, but most people are chased off.

That’s on the res so it’s gray area... thus the toll. ;-).

Our last trip out there we were on top of that table during a wicked storm. Had three lightning strikes within 100m from one of the five of our trucks. The rain was so heavy that one of the CVT tents collapsed under water load, but it was better than risking the flash flooding on the valley floor. This was 5 or 6yrs ago.... just realized it’s been a while since we’ve been out there! Spent the rest of that week dodging heavy hale and weather, while watching the tornados tear up the I90 corridor. It was like storm chasing in reverse. Was the first time I saw mammatus clouds upclose and personal. Had two ugly storms passing by, with us on the top of cement ridge watching.

We haven’t camped on sheep table there since, so rules on the res side might have changed. We have the 2 and 4yo kiddos now, won’t chance one of them going off the edge.

This year’s trip is San Juan Mtns, CO

So everyone was quick to answer my South Dakota offroading question (thank you, much appreciated)....but I have questions about lifts...I asked before and I didn't get too many comments...

I am looking at the Icon Stage 2 (0-2.75") (https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...-75-lift-kit-stage-2-icon-2016-toyota-tacoma/)

    Or the OME 2" (https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...t-kits/2-arb-ome-lift-kit-2016-toyota-tacoma/)

    or ToyTec 0-2" (https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...ift-suspension-system-for-2016-toyota-tacoma/)

I don't want to stiffen the hell out of the ride, and I don't currently have a lot of mods, and honestly, I don't know when they will come, but I have some gnarly terrain up north that I'd love to tackle and I need the clearance.

Any help/guidance/pointers would be much appreciated.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Spotted this hot little number today. Pretty clean. Clearly garaged in the winter.20190613_145217.jpg
