I checked the Gandy Dancer is open, just picked the wrong side I think. Wasn’t comfortable starting on the WI side.

I entered the trail in Markville, MN and exited it at Truck Park Trail. I don't think you can cross the river on the trail or I would entered the trail on the Wisconsin side. I read that the bridge over the St Croix is for pedestrians only. I could be wrong. In any case, I don't plan to return to the Gandy Dancer. It's not much different than a minimum maintenance dirt road that is super straight and super flat. The Iron Range ORV park in Gilbert is more my cup of tea.

That's helpful. I am thinking about heading up through Black Lake Bog and popping out up by Foxboro which is where we found the WI entrance with the signs. I'm not really in search of "wheeling", just a drive in an a very quiet area.

Truck Park Trail looks like it was a significant portion of your trip.

The Gandy Dancer and surrounding area are fun for casual scenic drive. I enjoyed exploring the State Forest and on that day it was also used as part of a route that took me to several locations in the state.

this place popped up on another mid west thread

    http://affordableauto.solutions/

... anybody have the deets on them, pros or cons?

would it be good for a 400 mile drive to get some taco undercarriage rehab (or whatever you want to call it)
my small city & surrounding area in NE/IA border has come up so bone dry and they don't know much, its frustrating af :(
no such good findings in the KC area from looking around either (which is much closer to me)
maybe Minnesota is the way to go :notsure:

Going to be heading up the north shore this weekend. Anyone know how conditions are in the forests up there? Going to be exploring some new areas and remote camping.

Whole northeast area has been really dry this spring. They got basically their first rain these past couple days for the whole spring. Depending on where you go the bugs are already out an swarming.

Bug spray is a waste of money. Get some permethrin and picaridin if you actually want to keep the bugs away

I have 2 big a$$ bottles of that but I havn't used them yet. Was going to use them for my trip to Canada last year but the bugs up in the mountains out there weren't bad at all.
