The side storage can be added back in if you are handy with a grinder. Nothing has changed in the truck bed layout so you can buy the part for the '18 and older, mark the hole in the bed, cut it out and slap it in.

Yeah not commenting on the actual power it may have, more the presumed power it felt like it was lacking.

Coming from the VW side, the computers know when they've been tuned, and will flag the vehicle for future warranty. Does Toyota do the same for their vehicles/warranties with regard to ovtune?

We have a ton rolled into the ‘12, hope to have it for another 10yrs. If someone takes it out today, I highly doubt I’d go for a 3rd gen. If I didn’t go with a V8 swapped Frontier, I’d end up in a 70-series or defender 110 with the Hab grafted into the roof.

On my last car I went to Tint Pros and I was not impressed. they missed a strip right on the bottom of my driver side window and it annoyed the crap out of me. I could see it every time I looked at the mirror. So Id rather not go there..

I just had XPEL done at Midwest Clear Bra in Plymouth a few weeks ago. They did a good job on the film and fixed up an issue no questions asked. Generally nice and had good customer service anyway. Long story short - they also do tinting.

Does anyone have experience with this shop?

    https://www.zeusoffroad.com/

I’m looking for a 4wd shop to do an alignment for me. My tall skinnies still rub occasionally off road and I’m hoping it can be fixed by moving the wheels a bit forward. I have SPC UCAs. The shop I took it too before seemed very perplexed by my oversized tires and aftermarket suspension. It took them 5 hours to do a mount and alignment.

Ive talked with them before, seemed like nice folks, quoted me $600 to install my pro suspension. Other than that I dont have any first hand experience (I didnt have them install for me)

While not apples-to-apples, I just dropped mine off there this afternoon to get 4.88's installed. I can report back on how that goes, if anyone would like.

A lift the "cheap" way, but will eventually do it right with Bilstein 5160's & 6112's with either a full leaf pack or the Headstrong AAL's. Currently it's just spacers up front, blocks in the rear (bought it this way). KMC 17x9 wheels with 275/70 e-rated Firestone X/T's. OVtuned, TRD Intake, Gibson cat-back, and soon to be Yukon gears. I also want to do the 27f AGM battery. I've purchased the tray and there's a 20% off code at Batteries Plus just begging me to spend MOAR MONIES!

OVTune has done a remarkable job from 0-65mph with the 2.0 tune. Way better than stock, but in order to get up to my hunting land, it's 150 miles on the highway. Even with the tune, it hates being above 65mph and will hunt back/forth between 5th and 6th. Hoping the 4.88's cure that. I could stop being a whiner and just put it in S5 and drive that way, but I have a mental issue with knowing its a 6-speed transmission and since I paid for all 6, should get the benefit of all 6. Based on what I've read in the 4.88 thread, gears should fix that. I'll find out soon enough!

I own a 6MT now and a majority of my cars and trucks have been manuals, but I previously owned a 2016 with an auto. It was the best automatic transmission I’ve ever driven (last auto was 20 years ago). I understand it’s geared really high and up shifts earlier than I do with my manual , but I felt like it responded when I hit the gas. When you say “hunting for a gear”, what do you mean more precisely? My auto would downshift generally when I expected it to, eg passing and climbing hills. I downshift my manual in the same situations; albeit the manual is geared lower so it’s not needed as often.

That said, with 33’s I find 4lo first too high and 4lo and 4hi reverse always too high. I’m not sure if the cost of new gears is worth it though, especially since I plan to use the stock tires if I ever need to commute to work again.

It's almost like it just gives up. No matter how much I push the skinny pedal down, it loses speed once it shifts to 6th, so it will drop back down to 5th and get back up to speed, shift into 6th and lose speed again, back down to 5th... you get the idea. Maybe to put it a different way, it gets completely gutless and unable to hold speed once it shifts into 6th. RPM's are just too low at that point for it to make any power.

If it were just me, I'd have gotten a manual since that's always my first preference. But the Taco is a family vehicle too (3 boys, 6 and under) so I needed to get the auto so my wife could drive it when/if needed. And she does, so it's worth the trade-off.

You can boost the voltage with vF for your agm battery

Guys have also been adjusting shift points. It seems a couple guys have made some good changes

With the stock tires on flat ground I didn’t have any problem driving in 6th. I noticed a large increase in rolling resistance when going to e rated mud terrains, but I made that change on the manual so I just rev it higher. I can imagine it impacting driver experience more with the auto.

Yep - I'm aware of he AGM and shift points, but haven't spent more than 5 minutes with vF since I bought it. My ECU is 04A61 so I've been waiting to take what OVtune has done with 2.0 and make it "my own" instead of modifying stock. I haven't been paying too close attention, but I think the ability to edit the 2.0 tune is still pending, at least for my ECU.

The 2.0 tune pack for 04a61 is available (as of the last week or so). Just email zendesk and request it.
