Same. One day I’ll have to do it with all the spare time I have these days… or just write the check.

So I got a confirmed appointment message on Facebook Messenger from the company so I thought it was all set. I went there this morning and he doesn't even have their business there anymore. :annoyed:

I called while I was sitting there in Little Canada and luckily he answered, so I talked to him for a bit. Apparently he has shut down the main part of the business and just does the woolwax now from mobile as a second job kind of thing. So he wanted me to sign up for an appointment here (just pick anytime) with my home and/or work address and generally available times where he can come and do the woolwax onsite. Apparently he waits for enough people to sign up so that he can make it worthwhile and hits them all at once on the same day or so.

So if you need to get your woolwax touched up before winter and you got it from Affordable Auto, I'd get signed up at the link above.

Did you select a day/time yet? I figure if he's waiting to get a few people onboard I'll choose the same date as you.

I didn't specify much for date/time as I'm flexible due to working from home. From the sounds of it, he waits until he gets enough people to sign up to make it worthwhile and then goes out and does them all on the same day. So it might be a bit longer until he does it, but the more sign up the sooner it would be I think.

Price must be going up on the wool wax. Quoted $550 for initial application. I'm not a fan of inflation, ha ha. I should've asked for a TW discount.

I need to start making calls this week to find a place that does woolwax or fluid film. If you find somewhere let me know eh?

The only place I ever knew of or found in the Cities that did woolwax/FF was that Affordable Auto Solutions guy. If you find another, let us know. Hopefully he'll keep doing it, at least with the mobile method if nothing else, but if he doesn't we may need to find an alternative/backup. The next best thing I found was going to Thunder Bay to get Krown done on it, but that would be a long drive to get done and every year to get it touched up.

Maybe if an alternate solution is never found @Shellshock can do an annual FF touch up and tuning session up here. ;)

Yeah I haven't heard back from him so I'm going to start looking as I want to get it taken care of before the decent weather is done for the year.

Looks like there's a shop in Coon Rapids that does fluid film though.

FYI...I used the link in this post to set up a mobile appointment. I should have it done in my driveway in just a few hours. I'll submit an AAR.

Just got it done. Great guy! If you're thinking about getting this done, do it soon because he might be working out of town on hurricane relief. I'm glad I got it done just for peace of mind. OBTW, it's still a lifetime deal.

I'm not far from Coon Rapids, what place around there does FF? Hopefully Affordable Auto keeps going (sounded like he was just taking a step back and waiting for the market to improve before maybe starting his FF and detailing business back up in the future), but just in case he truly folds and does the bankruptcy thing to get out of the lifetime stuff, I'd like to keep something in my back pocket.

Only Iowa? Here I thought @Shellshock was further south like St. Louis or something. Iowa generally isn't horrible of a drive from MSP, maybe worth a trip down there to do a tune if something doesn't happen up here eventually and gas prices drop some more.

Yeah he did mine in my driveway and it was quick and easy. Just pulled it out of the garage down the driveway so he could reach it with his hose and was done in like 15-20 minutes. I considered putting a tarp or something down but I don't think he got a drop on my driveway so he did really good keeping it clean too.

Minnesota Automotive. But my woolwax guy texted me back later on yesterday so hoping he can swing by and do a touch up.
