Hmmm I'm struggling to figure out how to fabricate inner fender wells for these fiberwerkx fenders... I was trying to use roof flashing but it's not turning out the way I want it to... Grainger sells thermoformable abs plastic sheets think I might have to give that a try

Anybody know of a good mechanic in Minneapolis metro? I do basic maintenance on my truck, but i'd love to get it looked over once before the winter (and a lot of miles) comes.

Hey MN folks...TC's more specifically. I have a challenge and need some thoughts from you all. I'm under a bit of a timecrunch, since i leave for NM on Friday.

just put on a new set of wheels/tiresand now have some rub. I went with the stock sized aftermarket wheels (17") & tires (265/65 R17), but with a 1" difference in backspace on the wheels and 1.5" spacers on, i have some rub i need to eliminate on the front. here's my dilemma...i really don't want to lift my truck, but am resigned to the fact i need to do it by ~1 in.

Can any one help me with ideas of what to do? I've considered Bilstein's to go up an inch...but need them quick.

Anyone have thoughts of what to do to help a guy out?

    Thanks!
    jd

Can anyone describe the Gilbert Off road vehicle recreation area in terms of visiting this time of year. NEEDING to do some exploring this weekend, that place has been on my radar for awhile now. Site say Fri, Sat, Sun. open 8- 3:30. Does that mean no camping? Any trail condition updates?

Awburd and i were out there a few weeks ago and it was great but if you don't have a winch and others to go with is is a suicide mission ...
You will get stuck on a hill and won't be able to get up

I was spinning my tires locked front and rear going nowhere

Decided to go up North and explore this weekend. Drove up from SE MN with my dogs and a truck load of recovery and camping gear. I tried to be prepared for wheeling, car camping and backpacking.

The winter snow has been lacking in my area, but still I have cabin fever!

With a few places highlighted on the gazetteer we headed North.

The morning after camping at Split Rock, along the North Shore of Lake Superior
A cold night in the tent, I think it got below 0F.
    DSC06061.jpg
Headed further north to find where all the snow has been hiding. Tried to get to one of many Bear Lakes. Ran into a local that said to keep the dogs close, they have trouble with wolves in the area.
    DSC06072.jpg

Took the road less traveled, decided it wasn't traveled enough for me to try to get lost and or stuck on alone. Was getting late, and two days before winter solstice meant darkness round 4 and I still needed to find camp.
    DSC06092.jpg

Found camp, dug it out, collected wood, and made dinner. First night sleeping in the back of T2, it was much warmer than last night. Around 15F.
    DSC06101.jpg

I thought that I would share my mini- vaca. Sometimes you just got to get out, even when you don't have something epic planned there are still places to explore. Having the reliability of my truck is what makes trips like these possible.

Id like to go on more of these trips, let me know if you guys are interested as well? It's more fun when you can go further in and take more risks.
