So I was thinking about picking up some treds but then thought a old blown snowmobile track would be perfect for recovery granted you cant bridge with them. Has anyone dabbled with this idea? I think it would be a good free option and possibly more compact.

I treated my frame and suspension components last year with Fluid Film. Seemed to help but I'll probably do a por-15 treatment next fall.

I'm not familiar with por-15 (or any rust proof products for that matter). The only place up here that does it uses Waxoyl. Any familiarity with that?

Not sure about that one. Fluid Film is derived from Lanolin, from sheep.
Por-15 is more of a paint. I don't think it would be that much more effort to prep and apply than the fluid film, and this would be more of a permanent fix versus having to reapply the Fluid Film.
Plan on doing the sliders with it as well as my paint job is half chipped and rusted. Luckily my front bumper was purchased professionally bed-lined.
My 2008 truck came used from Arizona so I am trying to get the most out of it. My 97 Taco frame is about to split in two.... After the dealer treatment.

Hey fellow MN peeps, I've had my third gen since 12/15 and a former owner of two first gen's and a second gen. I recently put a topper on so if anyone is looking for a roll up tonneau cover, I'll let it go cheap to someone local. Its an Access Lorado for a Tacoma long bed, in perfect shape, used for about a year. I'm also about to install my lift so if anyone local is interested in the factory TRD OR suspension, let me know.

I saw a Taco convoy headed north on 35 today. About 5:45 pm just south of Hinckley. Looked like a couple 1st gens followed by some 2nd gens and a lone quicksand 3rd gen pulling up the rear. You guys camping somewhere this weekend?

I think I saw the same crew drive past Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet a couple hours later.

OHV park I assume? I've been really curious about that place. Are there any trails a stock 4x4 Taco could enjoy? I picture it as being primarily rock crawlers or bust.

If you weren't at the park, any info on off-road trails up there would be welcomed!

Yup, only a few of us had been there before so we all found out the answers to your questions too. @USDashCamera had his stock 3rd gen TRDOR and managed to do the blue trails and even a black diamond Hill climb! So ya you can get out in a stock truck and have fun.

Jon was fully stock and had a blast. Apparently if you have crawl control you can do just about anything...

I'll have some video in the new few days.

Yea it was a lot of fun, wasn't sure what to expect. "The Edge" trail scared me a bit but thats more because I have a slight fear of heights haha. its not like its a sheer drop off but in retrospect I should have had a spotter more just to ease my mind but it was fine. I got some cool footage too ill upload soon.

That's awesome! Thanks for doing the recon for me! Did you guys camp? Or hotel it? Also, did you have to get a permit to enter the park?
