Sounds like a lot of fun! I just went on a backpacking trip with my friends in the Porcupine Mountain State Park (Upper Peninsula). It's very pretty up there! I'm heading back up to school the weekend of the 24th, and with Black Bear season opening the following weekend I am hoping to get a lot of exploring time in the Northwoods.

If you guys happen to be looking for another truck for Michigan, you can count me in! The same goes for winter as well. I am hoping to go "get lost" at least a few times this school year!

Rock Therapy is on my bucket list for sure... if I were to go I would bring my first gen, but having no locker would worry me. From what you told me at the meet Canyonlands would be more my speed

FYI, I’ve been making an annual trip up north on Black Friday it’s a great reason to get outside plus it’s the first weekend to get into the woods after MN deer season. I plan on staying in Nemadji on Friday night then up the shore on Saturday spend some time at Castle Danger brewery then a hike on the temperance river or caribou falls camp near Tofte head out earlyish on Sunday with breakfast at Betty’s pies. We had four trucks last year. We could definitely do more. I’d like to get out before then but may not be able to.

Maybe I’ll ride with Nate in the Cruiser to K peninsula. We’ll have to see when you guys want to go. I may try to deer hunt this year too.

Black Friday is going to be a toss up this year for me. I usually spend the weekend with my family and extended family, but there's a possibility that we might end up with a "Friendsgiving" in Duluth instead.

Yes that it was a training trail. Fun to get on and get too. But just short trail for what I thought it would be.

https://youtu.be/QE8w4vn8bSE What do you guys think of this? It felt like one long commercial. I felt a little dirty watching it. I think they spent too much time watching expedition overland.

I've come to expect anything "overland" in YouTube to be one giant commercial. Andrew and Ronny are too, to an extent but their information far outweighs the crap hawking.

One of Overland Bounds recent vids was "do you need a fridge to overland?" and it was 95% just a sales rep talking about their fridge. No actual discussion.

Yesterday I made reservations for the last 11 days of Oct. at a cabin in Schroeder been staying at last few years for grouse hunting. With a dog that is breed to look like a red fox I will be out of the woods on the Thursday before the if it is brown it is down crowd shows up on Saturday.

In the past have stayed in Isabella and also Crooked Lake North of Finland. But like the hidden place in Schroeder better. Personally I like the Rustic Inn in Castle Danger much better than Betty's, by a lot. If you have never stopped there it is worth it IMO. If only for the pies or desserts. Get tired of eating my own cooking have been known to make a 3 hour round trip to eat there :anonymous:

Depending on the amount of snow I go back up the day after deer closes. If the snow is too deep the dog has a hard time running the woods. Last year it hit Oct. 27th and built up from there so was a bust for the dog and I. I'm normally in Cook and the upper half of Lake County though.

It can be very hit or miss but normally try to spend Thanksgiving grouse hunting there, if the snow holds off and stays light.

For thanksgiving meal first go out and shoot a grouse. Then fry it in bacon grease coated in shore lunch.

I often head up the Caribou Trail along the Temperance River to catch "The Grade" and spurs\tote roads. Now that Lake and Cook allow Class 2 ATVs on County Roads giving serious thought to a Polaris Ranger HVAC Northstar Edition. Getting tired of beating up my truck. And myself. SF roads are generally OK but NF roads have a lot of restrictions. My friend in Silver Bay just got a Honda Pioneer 500 but I figure if it is a NF 50" restricted trail I should be walking it with the dog and gun anyhow.

Please teach him to tuck the wheel under the frame when just using a jack to hold it up so if the jack fails (and they do) that wheel hub doesn't take a limb off when it hits the ground.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but a 45k service should just be an oil change, tire rotation, and new cabin filter (and grease the u-joint zerks). Nothing a quickie oil place (or Walmart) can't do for cheap. I think 60k is where you get into plugs and fluids for transfer case and diffs. No reason to stop at a dealership at 45k in my opinion.

I had jack stands under the axle. But you could always throw the tire under the rocker it needs to go somewhere.

That car is so rusty under neath there is nowhere to jack without pushing through the unibody, pinch weld is gone. I hope he gets a couple years before it completely disintegrates. I had to use the trailing arm bracket to push on they were beefy enough thankfully.

It's nice that he has someone to guide him! I've been more or less teaching myself about cars which has been a lot more trial and error, along with countless hours of YouTube and reading "How-To" guides

Any one know what qualifies for a fire wall. The house I'm trying to close on needs a fire wall in the garage. And storm windows painted n installed. Spent the day scraping old paint off of the storm windows. Dont know y they want that they know I'm putting new windows in after I get the house.

I’m glad for You tube but I have a lot of experience working on late 90’s Maximas I put 320k on mine I did a lot of work to keep it going. Funny thing is I was cleaning our garage out just before our WY trip and I threw out all of my old Nissan stuff including all my notes in my Haynes Manual. Bummer!

Now that I'm home I just watched it.... didn't really feel like a commercial to me, more like a TON of product placement. Like not even subtle product placement. That being said, it still looked like a fun time! I could do without the gas grill and other "galmping" equipment though
