That sums it up pretty good Cole. Lots of product placement. Yup.I’d like to see what a third gen on streetys would fare. I’ve seen crawl control do some pretty cool stuff.

We were an hour from that trail while slumming it in Lovell. Forrest really wants to do the trail - it does look gorgeous - but I'm out. I don't want to die while doing 20-point turns up switchbacks. :luvya:

Yeah, at 43 I'm late to the game. I always wanted to be able to wrench a bit, but never had a teacher. It's impressive seeing guys like Chris and Forrest in their early 20's doing the shit they do.

I think those guys made it harder than necessary. Maybe for video sake but maybe the long travel suspension made it harder maybe it really Fd up their turning radius. I think it would be easy in Forrest’s truck.

Thanks for the article link. I am guilty of riding in a destructive fashion. I by utilizing the trail/ forest roads inherently cause damage. Not just that but I have been aggressive and childish and stupid too. But, what all of these locals forget is that this is MY state too. How many dollars are spent developing areas for skiers, bikers, snowmobiles, boaters, and even ATV’s? They want to talk about invasive? Fuck off! There’s only 30 miles of trails designated for OHV use! There’s a million boat launches. That’s pretty damn embarrassing. If they want they can go all over the state and find public land to use in other ways. I encourage that. I do I love the bike trails near my home. They are free to go South towards the cities and use the infrastructure we all have paid for. The attitude that this is ours and stay out really pisses me off. If they want us to be responsible and take care it behooves them to give us the opportunity and allow us to care. I want the chance to get off the road to camp where there are few people. To see the stuff you can only see” off the beaten path” But I’m not so selfish to deny others the same opportunity. I understand why the ranchers out west took a stand. I don’t 100% agree with them but I get the argument. The land is PUBLIC. That means it should be available to all. I also understand there are some spots worth limiting and protecting carefully. This is not about that it’s about some assholes keeping others out. Again F off. Some will always go out of their way to screw others.

I believe that a wall covered in at least 1/2" gypsum (mudded and taped) qualifies as a fire barrier. Doesn't have to look pretty, but can't have gaps where air can get in. That's why garages on new houses and townhouses have sheetrock and a quickie mud/tape job but aren't sanded and painted. Just need to seal up the walls for fire inspector.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this new "route" just use public roads already..??? It just puts a name to already existing dirt and forest roads. It's not like they're out there chopping trees and creating new track. Seems like a pretty weak argument against.

    lol@
"But too many trucks treading on that overgrown, two-track road could threaten the serenity of the North Woods"
“There’s a legitimate use, it just doesn’t belong on our fragile back roads.”

Heading up to the Keweenaw this weekend for a little business, a little play. Love all the back roads and hidden trails up there. Years ago, the wife and I passed an ATV in our old Honda Civic... the looks on their faces as we passed each other were priceless. Hoping to find some spots I've never been to before... I expect the Tacoma will help out in that regard!

That's what I've wondered this entire time, almost everything already exists. I know they plan on doing more trail building off of the B2B but idk what all this hubub is on either side.

Those all gungho FOR the trail, go drive around, explore, and make your own B2B route. That's why I offroad at least, to go explore stuff, not to be told which roads I need to take and what things I need to see. There's enough information on preliminary routes floating around you should be able to figure out which roads it takes and run it before it's officially sanctioned.

It may vary by county. I know at work we had an open joist basement ceiling spray foamed for noise mitigation and the fire marshal came in and said it had to be covered with a fire barrier - which was 1/2 sheet rock mudded and taped. $20k later he signed off on the inspection. Friggin spray foam guys said it was a treated foam that didn't need to be covered. Fire marshal didn't care what magic chemicals it had, he wanted a fire barrier.

    Amen, homie.

When you showed me the gpx of the proposed route I thought it looked pretty boring - but that's just me.
