this... so damn true. I love driving in the snow... I just hate driving in the snow with the other morons... you either get the assholes driving too fast, or the morons that have no business driving at all. Irritates the living hell out of me.

    Short story before pic...

On our way up to Lake Tahoe, we had chains available, brand new tires (stock, but still...), 4 wheel drive, and a snow conscientious driver (me). However the little Honda with 20-something year olds driving didn't even have chains on as we were being followed by them. Needless to say I was not comfortable with them behind me, but had no choice. As we were heading down the pass, I went cautiously but at a decent speed.

Meanwhile these jackasses floored it to pass me, almost sideswiped the other lane of traffic, then visibly kept losing control and desperately applied the brakes. Needless to say, they badly struggled to maintain 'control' let alone not hit the car(s) in front of them. They managed to make it down the mountain without hitting anyone. But when at the bottom with only a minor slope left (but noticeable slickness), they fishtailed bigtime as their brakes were on and came within inches of the car in front.

That's when I reminded my passengers why I was more than happy to let these jackasses fly by us :)

Here's a pic of less than 8 hours worth of snowfall that ensued...

It was somewhere to the side of that pic, but in the pic you can see the dodge is basically 100% covered. Here's the ice cream in the bed of my truck - snow makes a great cooled storage location on trucks :)

Been there done that. South Park's brutal in winter. Once the winds start howling and the whiteouts kick up, a half hour drive across the Park becomes a 4 hour affair.

i agree man, last December we were headed to Arizona and got caught up in that big snowstorm that raveged the US. Going through Utah there were morons doing 80 on the interstate, black ice, practically going sideways, texting on their fucking phones, truckers too. Passed so many signs that said. "All commercial vehicles over 10,000lbs must pull over at next exit and chain up" not one truck i saw had chains on it. We watched helplessly as a truck nearly took out a family driving a Ford Focus, their were two kids playing with their toys in the back window too, the parents were not even aware of it. The last thing those kids would have saw was the words Peterbilt towering above them. Thankfully he did not hit them and got it under control. That was by far my scariest driving experiance ever, we went pretty much 45mph from Idaho all the way to Las Vegas.

Just look at that menacing cloud cover in the background! Taken in Yellowstone national park today, it was also the very first day my Tacoma saw snow, found out the ABS really does kinda suck on these trucks too, glad i have a manual though for slowing down on ice!
