Okay folks. I got an idea from the "original owners" thread, and I thought it warranted its own.

So. I want to see the Tacomas that have changed the most since you've owned it.

Got a 5 lug you turned into a Mint 400 racer? POST IT.

Got a doublecab pre-runner that you turned into a caged buggy with links and tons? POST IT.

Hell, got a S-Runner you bagged and threw a tilt bed on? POST IT.

I'll start by setting the bar embarrassingly low with my entry. I know you can do better:

    Long time ago:

Current: (main change is it's currently parked in grass, lol)

The first 13 years I owned the truck, it looked like this.

That picture was 2 years ago (Prerunner 2wd)

Now, it looks like this (4wd)

Nice color on the trucks, boys... Didn't mean for this to be an Impulse Red thread! :D

Actually I waited about a year and 4 months. I hated the front bumper and just wanted to replace it with a tube bumper. I saw the lead times and costs of bumper and said F>|k it. I’ll build one and it went down hill from there

Yeah, back around christmas time I decided to do a little mod and remove the lower plastic valance of my stock bumper. No big deal, just take it off, make more approach clearance. So I did that, and then somehow I ended up building that CBI bumper. And that morphed into skid plates too. Not really sure how that all happened...

I'm in. gotta finish my stupid skids first, lol. My radiator hangs way to low, I don't even like driving on the road without the skid. And of course I tossed the stock one...

Well dude... all three of us seem relatively close to you. I, for one, am always up to help someone mod their truck. ESPECIALLY a 1st Gen.

Seems like I'm always working on everyone's 2nd and 3rd Gen tho.

I'm right there with you man. Been trying to get skids figured out. Looks like I'm probably going to have to build my own.

Yep, I've been reading and posting in that homemade skid plate thread in the off roading section, and I've got mine mostly figured out, and the main pieces cut, just need to whiskey bend them and throw some sparks.

was going to work on it this weekend but some shit hit the fan with family so it was a no go.

I appreciate the offers! I'm in San Luis Obispo, but can travel. I got the Kings , I'm currently in search of someone to assist me with frame repair first though. I'm really hoping I can find someone close to me to help me with that. But I have the front King shocks, waiting for rear shocks, got some new bumpers, waiting for leaf springs. I have a K&N intake to install as well. I shall be ready to install hopefully soooon!

yeah, rear shackle mounts and some of the rear frame. There is some rust up front but it might be repairable without welding. :/

I just need to get over it and buy some metal, and start doing it.

Had some nonsense go on this weekend. Boiled over headed to camp. I think it's just some kinks that need to be worked out. But ended up buying a trans cooler, and a bunch of other shit, to work it out... which will put skids on hold for a minute. At least I have the stock skids for now (as useless as they really are).
