Can confirm, staying at home is NOT good for saving money. I've spent about $2k on truck parts and tools this month. These projects just tend to snowball.

Your Tacoma will be lower maintenance and lower $ than your GF even if it lasts 30 years!
Edit: voice of experience...I’ve been married 43 years!

I won’t get into the details about how/why my marriage ended after almost 8 years but I will say it wasn’t as much about money or how I spent it... Hell, for most of that time, she made more money than I did. My problem was more about how I spent what little free time I had.

For instance, let’s say I wanted to take my Tacoma and go away on a weekend fishing trip (at my buddy’s cottage, which meant very low cost). First, I’d have to get permission to go. Once that was obtained, which rarely came easy, for several days leading up to the trip, I’d be hit with passive aggressive comments meant to “guilt trip” me into feeling bad. Because, how could I possibly leave her with the kids while I go have fun? I was told for years that I was prioritizing my own happiness and interests over her and the kids...

So yeah, let’s just say a lot of resentment built up over the years until I finally snapped. And, sure, the Tacoma has let me down a few times (stupid leaky power steering rack), but it has never tried to drop a guilt trip on me or criticize me for wanting some time to myself.

Hence why I voted for the Tacoma.

8years was still a young marriage man. I've been there with Hunting. Every fall wanting to go every weekend. I can see now how I was being selfish especially when both our kids were born in the Fall. I would snap a few times and now after 12 years my wife is glad when i leave the house LOL. Gives her time to relax.

I’m not talking every weekend. I’m talking once or twice a year. And the same thing happened every single time. I’m sorry but I didn’t, and still don’t, feel like I was being selfish asking for one or two weekends per year to enjoy life.

Did she have equal time alone from you and the kids?

I always encouraged it... she never chose to take advantage.

And this is just one example of why my marriage failed. There were plenty of other reasons. Thankfully I never had to make a choice between her or the truck. I was just throwing out an example.

I'll throw the engine in the bed and shorten the front. Or maybe bring the back axle forward and put the fuel tank in my passenger seat.

Short course trucks put the motor in the passenger seat, fuel cell and radiators in back. Send it!

Let me give you the best advice you'll ever get. First, your fiancee is beautiful. But with that said, keep the truck and get rid of the girl. The truck will cost way less in the long run no matter how much you invest in it. And if you're stupid enough to get married... PRENUPTIAL! When, not if, you get divorced you'll find out that the courts hate men and you'll get robbed blind especially since you make way more money than her. She'll get 1/2 of all your investments and houses, you'll have to pay alimony for who knows how long. But hey, it's your choice.

Cook yes, clean... I guess she tries. Parents sent her to culinary classes and some fancy lawyer program when she was a kid. So she can cook while debating with me and I lose no matter what. If I somehow beat her on the debate, I won't get any of the food.
