After a very long and hectic (and largely inactive on the site) couple of months, I will be relocating from SF/Bay Area to Paradise, CA.

I'm really looking forward to the move. Getting a 3br, 2 car garage house WITH a 30x40 workshop with roll up doors for $200 more a month than my STUDIO in Santa Clara.

Instead of working 2 jobs just to pay rent, I'll be primarily working on the carburetor restoration business I run with my father and doing some remote work for the software company I work for.

SO, if there's anyone here from Chico or Paradise, say hello! Moreover, I'll have some time, space and money to finally get my clutch replacement done so I'll be able to head out on the trails!

    Cheers and happy 2015!

Might be moving to chico in fall for school, it's nice up there. Oh and Cohasset... that's where my buddy got his truck stuck and an hour later his windows were bashed out, school books stolen, and his brand new kimber... sheriff basically said good luck, methheads probably have your gun now.

and good luck to the cop/any other person that has contact with that methhead.

That's why my gun is in a safe or in a holster...on my body

maybe it was in a safe?... but usually methheads don't like to work too hard. that's why they are methheads.

How is Santa Clara these days? I was born and raised there. My parents bought there 3 bedroom/2 bath house in 1959 for 16k. I read a time back that it had recently sold for 700k. Yea, the Bay Area/South Bay have become way to expensive to live there anymore.

100% his fault for leaving it in the truck, but the worst part is he got a ride into town while hitchhiking and the guys who picked him up are the ones who broke in and the cops couldn't / wouldn't do anything about it. Had names and an address too...

Sounds like you need a FART, Fast Action Response Team. 3-4 man team with shotguns and non lethal rounds, mostly bean bags and tazer rounds. kick the door in and put a round on everyone doing whatever they do all methed out before they know whats goin on! sack the house and get the gun back.
This was a plan some fellow [IMG] and I though of while waiting around for some house clearing drills to start. except we were going to steal the drug dealers money and then leave. :oldglory:

It is. After 24 years (as if I have any right to complain after that short of a time) and having been raised largely in a small town in Minnesota, the smaller town will be great for me.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it! The second trip up with a trailer and a failing clutch... not so much.

I've been surfing in Monterey many times, absolutely beautiful place. Always make sure to stop by there or Carmel when going camping at Big Sur.

That's why I will have my truck in my garage with an alarm system I'm making enabled whenever I'm home... And a loaded 590A1.... That is a bummer though.

My moms 2br/1bath on the border of SJ/SC is running at mid 8s... and it's a pretty run down old house.

I know I'll miss aspects of the Bay Area as well, but I think this move will be all for the better. Not looking too much forward to the summers as I've been told they get decently hot, BUT THAT'S WHY THEY INVENTED SWIMMING! WOOT!

That sounds like a good Wednesday afternoon to me ;)

I'm getting tired of the Bay Area prices as well. I'll probably start one of these threads in the next year myself, but for further away.

We're about 5 minutes from Feather River so you can be sure I'll probably get in the habit of biking down and then swimming for a while.

No kidding; that's awesome and hopefully all your ducks line up the way they did for me!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone have any recommendations for firewood gathering in Plumas NF? I've looked into the permits and they have the maps included but if anyone wanted to go exploring later in April we could get more done!

Also, I'm going to be needing some better equipment for cutting; we have about 2 cords on the property currently and it doesn't get too cold but still... recommendations on mauls and saws would be great.
