If it were ok to but a car seat in the bed of a truck I wouldn't hesitate on getting the single cab. The savings would be nice.

I know that I am going to order a 2013 Double Cab V6 4x4 with the TRD Sport Package. I chose the sport package because I drove it and a TRD Off Road, and I like the sports ride better. Plus, I really like the color matched panels, and the turn signal mirrors. The dealer I am ordering through is a USAA member. Thus, I get no haggle pricing listed below. This may give you a comparison of what you could get for a 2013 right now.

2013 Tacoma Double Cab V6 4x4 TRD Sport
    - Add Towing Package
    - Add Entune & Navi
    - Add All-Weather Floor Mats
    - Add Black Side Steps

*I'm trying to see if I can get the dealer to swap the Dunlop tires that come with the sport for BFG ATs, so that may cost me more.

    MSRP: $34,919
    USAA Price: $33,085

I get $1,834 off, so I would imagine that you could negotiate in this neigborhood on what you want.

USAA runs off of True Car pricing I believe. After tax tag title dealer fees you will be well over MSRP. You should be able to get a good bit lower.

ummmm with the v6 the manual tranny is more costly. as far as i can read the fluid in the auto's is changed less than clutches on the 6 speeds. thats from other's complaints though. 87k on my 6 speed and its flawless. aside from driving like a pos. base models for the win. i love mine. everything i need and nothing i dont. except that rear locker. . . .

I just bought a '12 SR5 after a lot of research. My salesman was very helpful when I was honest about what I wanted to do with my truck. Paying extra $$ for packages that included options I didn't care about seemed foolish. The double cab SR5 is a perfect start for me. So far I added PIAA ATP 520's for the woods, ARE topper and K&N. The 3" lift is next and then tires. It is also a lot more fun doing it yourself slowly and the advice you get on this site to help with these decisions is awesome.

    Good luck

Just to give you an idea. I just bought my SR5 2 weeks ago. Obviously it's a good time to buy 2012 since the 13's are out. Bad thing is that 2012 selections are pretty slim now. Luckily I found the SR5 and the color I wanted. MSRP was $28,300. I was able to get it for $25,800 + tax/fees etc (almost 10% below MSRP). So if the MSRP is at $33,129, then shoot for $30,000 (almost 10% below). I'd say anything below $31,000 would be good. Maybe if you go in there offering $30,000, you can walk out with $30,500.

    Couple of things:
    1. I'm in Southern California, so I don't know how, and if, pricing differs in other parts of the country.
    2. Also, dealers might be less flexible on TRD models, since I think they're a bit more popular than the SR5's.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

The start of my 2013 Sport DLCB build is scheduled for Nov 5. Why does Spruce Mica gotta be so damn rare? If I'm lucky I'll have it by Thanksgiving.

Going through the Costco service. Bought my wife's car thru same and was instant 3K off the top. I'll be getting dealer cost, which I believe was about 2K off MSRP. Good enough that I don't even feel like trying to haggle. Not that it would do much good since these trucks are so freakin popular and fast selling, Toyota doesn't have to offer deals. They're prolly more willing to walk away than you are.

Carwoo.com was able to get me a great deal on my 2012 DCSB SR5 4x4 AT V6 with the tow package. All you do is enter the vehicle you want to purchase and wait for the offers to roll in. Then you can email each dealer with the other offers you've received. Walked into the dealership with a set price and no headaches.

...When you do decide to get that "3 inch lift", do yourself a big favor and reasearch it a lot on here, NOT at the local auto parts store.

Type 1: You can go cheap and get a spacer lift in front with block in the back but your truck will ride horrible.

Type 2: You can get Bilstien shocks or OME kits and have a decent lift and good off-rroad perfromance or...

Type 3: You can go first class with ICON or Fox or Kings coiliovers and rear shocks with a better rear leaf pack.

I went with the ICON setup and love it because it is both smoother on the street and amazing off-road. Just do your homework and don't go with a spacer lift without knowing what it will be like. You have been warned!
