I really like that rear step bumper on the Colorado! Great idea.

When I see these threads on either site, I immediately assume the posters are 18-23 year kids that were a bit too competitive in sports growing up and may have lost and had their feelings hurt once or twice.

At what point do we stop giving a crap about someone else's decision on what they like to drive.

There's tons of guys on TW that love the 3rd gen Taco, and tons or guys on here that hate them.

There tons of people on there that love the GM twins, and tons that hate them.

If I own a GM twin and am happy with it, why does anyone give a shit over here.

If own a Tacoma and love it, why does anyone give a shit over there.

These "HaHa...that asshole bought a piece of shit truck" comment's are getting pretty stupid.

I mean there'sguys on here having issues with their 16 tacos and guys on there having issues with their 15 Colorado.

You know what they have in common...they're both first year vehicles built in the US by entitled Union workers.

Stand by for more issues from both, but to say that either is crap, and starting a thread just to state your opinion is getting ridiculous.

Not trying to butt hurt anyone, just stating my opinion.

Toyota doesn't have a union factory in the US or Mexico. Ironically, their only union involvement seems to be in Japan.

Toyota employee training and workforce quality involvement initiatives have been the industry standard for the past 30 years.

Colorado's are ugly mainly because the proportion of the the window to door panel is way off. I can't decide if the windows are too small or if the door is too big.

Well....your figure is wrong according to KBB.

    http://www.kbb.com/new-cars/best-resale-value-awards/best-resale-mid-size-pickup-truck/

Resale value after 60 months is 60.4% on the Tacoma vs 58.3% on the Chevy.

    At $29,000 x .604 = 17516
    At $29,000 x .583 = 16907

    A difference $609.

Certainly not $13,642. Poor misguided chilren.

The second part of the word problem should read..

Was Dawson's $609 loss worth it to have a remote starter, power and leather seats, an Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatiple radio, more horse power and towing capability and a much more spacious interior?

The third part should of the question should read...

Is the $609 loss that Dawson lost worth it considering that he doesn't have to place washers under his seats raise it up, or install an aftermarket remote start, or replace his cheese grater grill (and you have to admit the grill looks like shit).

And the forth part of the question should read...

How much money will Dawson have saved on the thousands of dollars in mods that he didn't do?

Just saying.....Looks Dawson got a good deal and a good truck just like a Tacoma. Everyone's happy.

Edmunds tells a different story, and from exp they seem to be a lot closer to actual market values than KBB, so figures being "wrong" is subjective. Using configs with same avg price paid (31082/31345 Colo/Taco) and 5yr depreciation of -14115/-10970 gets you figures of .546/.65.

I can't say about retail, but Edmunds trade-ins values are way closer to black book (which is what is used for trade-ins) than KBB which are often a few thousand high.

How the hell do they estimate 5 yr depreciation rate on a truck which has only been on the market for 1 year?

I felt the same sting when I traded my 11 taco for a new 14 Silverado last year and traded it after 6 months for my 2015 Taco, lesson learned.

    That's the point.

Everyone is bashing each other over two new vehicles that have no reliability info on.

Just get what makes you happy. Who cares what the other guy got.

I've test driven all three. Like all three trucks...

Resale value, reliability, cost of ownership in my opinion is 100% related to the owner.

My buddy and I both had 98 acess cab 4wd tacos, non trd.

I had 188k miles and he had 196k.

Mine was my daily driver and he off roaded and beat to shit his.

I sold mine for $8600 in mint condition. He sold his for $1500 with a grinding transfer case.

Resale value...that's a laughable term since the majority of the population trades their cars in and get raped on the trade in value.

Historical data. Brands have a generic depreciation that is pretty consistent unless the company does a major overhaul in their QC or branding. This data is used until actual model-specific info can be collected over time. It is fairly achievable to get a reasonably good estimate for a given make, but individual model/trim configs can always be extra strong/weak performers.

I guess my point is they shouldn't be considered "bad" estimates just because the car is new, but of course take them with a grain of salt.
    100% ? maybe 25% ;)

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
So if Chevy resale is 58.3% after 5 years, you think thats 14% per year ?
Holy crap man, please don't tell me you are actually a teacher. Now I am curious where do you teach?
No wonder kids in America fail math, with teachers like that its surprising they get it right at all.

    Maybe he's using trade-in value. .47 at 5yr = 14%/year.

I was tickled to get raped to the sum of $22,000 for my 6 month old Colorado. Only had to finance 4K for 3 years, $120.50 month on my new Tacoma.
