Tacomaworld, such a great website. Lots of Tacoma talk, info, pics! :)
This is my first post and I just wanted to say hi.

I've been researching Tacomas for over a year and finally plan to buy one soon. Yaay!
Only thing, I recall last spring seeing a $1000 cash to customer rebate/incentive on the Tacoma. Right now, there's nothing...unless you're a recent college grad or in the military. I'm in NY btw.
Can I expect the general $1000 rebate to come back anytime soon? I'd hate to buy one next week, then see a rebate come out the first week of February.

    Welcome to TW.
I just bought a 2010 about 5 weeks ago. Dealers are looking for good customers, either with cash in hand or an excellent credit score if you need financing. The dealers need to move units bad because of the economy. If you have the cash or good credit score, use that to your advantage. Tell the dealer you go to, that you are confident that dealers are looking for good customers, and just lay it on the line. Tell them what you need and if they don't step up to the plate don't fret, walk away and try another dealer. I would guess that you need to prepare to drive one home.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! :)

I've spoken to several dealers and there's two trucks in the area that match my desired configuration (1 very local and 1 about an hour away). Most of the dealers seem quite anxious to "give me the best price". One went very close to invoice, but then tried to tack on the etching fee and a very high doc fee. Heh, I told him I didn't want the etching and refused to pay it. :) He said in this case, he has to charge it in order to make some money on the deal.
Anyway, I'm gonna keep dealer hopping. Most likely will end up buying in NY vs NJ because NY is capped on the doc fee at $45.

    Welcome to TW...

I don't know about the rebates, either... A buddy of mine emails three local dealerships in our area when he wants to buy a new car. He details everything he wants, and he makes sure that each person can see that all three were emailed. It's worked out nicely for him b/c they get into a bit of a bidding war. It's nice to have four Yota dealerships in w/in 50 miles, too.

Yeah, I think I have at least 15 dealerships within a 20 mile radius of me.
