I have 2013 Tacoma with the crew cab. I noticed when installing a camper shell that I bought used. that the front of the bed is missing a protective cap that would match the side bed caps.

The Toyota for apex parts department was no help. They only gave me the rail part number.

Google shows lots of pictures with the cap above the rail. but sadly I come up empty handed on finding the part. I saw several posts on the rail, but none on the protection above the it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have an '06 and a '15... both double cabs... neither one has anything above the rail on the front of the bed...

If I'm understanding the question correctly...

Front of the bed is a touch lower than the sides on my '13. Makes a bit of a sealing challenge even with a tonneau.

My Undercover hard tonneau on my '06 and my Leer cap that is on the '15 are stepped to compensate for that difference. I haven't had any issues with either one leaking... yet...

I just read the thread about the pipe insulation... I'm sure it works, but I don't think I would be too crazy about it. If I needed to fill that gap, I would measure it and see if I could buy a piece of aluminum bar and mount it to the top of the rail (sealed with clear silicone maybe). That would be strong, lightweight, and as permanent as you want it to be.

Yeah, I just wedged a piece of foam in there that I cut off my girlfriends yoga mat. Doesn’t leak a drop.

my recommendation is to go to a camper, topper, canopy store and ask for the seal.

I have a Snugtop shell and they installed a thick piece of rubber seal to cover the gap.

Remove the caps on the side rails and call it a day.

Thanks for the suggestions; I ended up going to a truck outfitters and bought a rubber seal for it under $20.00 with tax.
