Best vehicle I have had for snow! Been through drifts that I was pushing snow with my bumper and didn't get stuck.... key to busting through snow is to drive careful and as soon as you loose momentum STOP and throw it in reverse and keep on packing a trail... A locker helps tremondously!

Yep, for the winter we are a full foot less snow fall than average. I don't think we've even had a foot combined yet.

She'll do fine. I just want these Dunlops to wear out so I can justify a set of BFG AT's. The stock Dunlops are ok if you have momentum but they're summer tires, not gonna get you up the street in 24" of snow, no way. I'm surprised people are complaining about the Rugged Trails, I'd love to have a set of those. I bought chains anyway, nice to have a pair regardless of what tires you have.

Then chews it up, and spits it out. Tacoma, duratracs, and heavy duty chains FTW!

My 5-lugger does pretty damn decently with General AT2s...and 160lbs worth of sand bags over the rear axle...and a 100lb punching bag too.

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
last week i di AWESOME! in snow! i did not have a problem stopping or having abs kick in. it was mostly snow, it was to cold for salt to even work. i think the bed mat i have which is a good 90 or 100 pounds and the nitto terra grapplers. i did have it in 4wd the hole time. also i slowed down!

i have drove with the rugged fails for 2 miles in snow and they sucked, abs had kicked in and everything. that was over a year ago tho. I really think extra weight and tires has more to do with it than anything. and slowing down when it’s snowing or snow is on the roads! i could not be any happier with the truck!

My Firestone Destination AT are the best performing all terrain tires I've had for driving in snow. Ive made many winter trips between Minot, ND and Seattle, WA over all those mountain passes and havent had issues since I switched to the Destination AT.

When I had my access cab a couple years ago, michigan actually got pounded with 1-2 feet over night and the dunflops did way better than I expected. All I had was a 28" snow blower in back for weight. Made my 7 mile trip to work and back never got stuck.

Well, got my 2013 Double Cab TRD...now if we can just get some snow. Something that's becoming a rare phenomenon here in Colorado Springs that last two and a half years.

with my 2012 taco.. had two good snow storms, did well on them with stock dunflops. I know I can do better with Coopers AT3 once I get them on this spring. It handle very well, even with the touchy ABS. Speaking of Dunflops. right now it got 19000 and showing sign wearing quick.. so they are not the best stock. Toy company should put better tires on them to make it worthwhile.

I agree that Toyota should provide a higher quality stock tire. The Dunlops that came on my DCLB 4x4 are fine for day to day on road driving but really have no off road or poor weather capability. These trucks are marketed as off-road performance vehicles so why skimp on rubber?

That said, my previous vehicle, a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 regular cab, came off the line with Goodyear Wranglers which I think were a very capable stock tire. Certainly a step or two above the Dunlops

Can't believe I missed this post before. I think you'll want to replace them before next Winter! :)

My Rugged Trails did really well in the first good snow we had, but are noticeably worse in the last snow at less than 1800 miles on them.

The Hankooks on my new F-150 did good the first Winter but much worse the second. All OEM tires basically suck. Even my Toyota sales guy agreed. I was set on Firestone Destination AT's, then Cooper Discover A/T3's. Now I'm set on the Duratracs before next Winter.
