True, but he still makes a valid point about the benefit of good tires. The other part of it is the driver and good driving habits.

Haha same, it's all over the place in 2wd, and quite fun to play around with. but if I go to serious mode, there isn't a car I feel more confident in and enjoy driving more than my truck. Im not afraid to take it out in any weather.

I'm curious as to what everyone is comparing their Tacoma against. I've driven tons in the snow with a few different vehicles. Currently has 265-70-17 Hankook ATM's.

    '97 1500 Ram 4WD (mud tires)
    '99 1500 Ram 4WD (Mud tires)
    '06 Kia Sportage AWD/4WD (All-Seasons)
    Several front wheel drive cars

For me, the Tacoma is the best in the snow. Especially off-road in not groomed stuff. For sheet ice in town which we get a lot because our area doesn't salt I think the Sportage in AWD is actually really good. Every bit as good as my Tacoma, but that's only on ice covered roads. If they're slushy at all, Tacoma wins.

I too believe tires make a huge differance in slush crud covered roads. What I have found to help is to put the AUTO LSD on. Doing just that makes a huge differance for me anyway.

I did some of the funnest "urban snow wheeling" last night this truck does amazing! I do have duratracs so that helps! The snow in some spots was easily 18" deep and I was tearing through that shit. I also tested the abs A LOT and had no issues stopping.

That looks like pretty fresh powder. Was there ice under the snow? In fresh snow, especially if it's really cold or dry snow ABS isn't all that bad. It's really more the icy stuff.

Yep that first pic was just in a parking lot of a building that was bulldozed so empty parking and no plows... however the roads are super bad its snowing so much they cant keep it plowed so its ice for a base then a bit of snow ontop of that SUPER slick but in 4wd no problem and again my abs has been just fine no issues stopping even when Ive tried to make it an issue.

Here is another pic from 10 minutes ago driving home from donating plasma... empty parking lot at our local mall another building that has been vacated so no plows in here!

Wife and I travelled across the CDN Rockies and coast mountains for Xmas in a huge snow storm. I run ATs and we were just fine. Yeah, you have to slow down when the evening ice sets in but who doesn't. If I do that run again it will be with studs. All the sledders run studs for a reason; so that they can do 100 km/h plus on glaze ice (though still not recommended). In the deep though? Very very good vehicle. We've driven out 5 mi of logging road in approx 2ft new/old snow after bckcntry skiing.... I always look forward to driving the Taco after a good ski.

Anytime is a good time for TACO time!!!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Changed my answer, I drove my Dad's Jetta on the ice and snow with Blizztech I think they are called tires, and it handled far better than anything I've driven previously on ice, but in deep snow, the Taco owns, no way the Jetta would make it through this!

It got even deeper further up the road, deep as the tires I think.

Like I said, it got deeper further up the road, but I didn't stop to take a pic.
