I handled a blizzard this winter with ease. Aired down ATs and a bone stock truck. I know there are slightly better 4x4s for winter use, but their advantages would be slim IMO.

Right when I was pulling out of your sister...looked like snowflakes sprinkling down upon her face. I thought to myself...OHH MY GOODNESS, I have simple common sense...driving in snow isn't that hard...

Seriously though, I had valid points whether you read them or not. When it snows up there (just like when it rains down here) everyone forgets how to drive and adapt to the changing weather. Any weather condition is going to take common sense to adjust to. Yes, experience plays its fair role, but as LEO, you are probably (depending on how long you've been on road patrol) aware that most of the time common sense is the culprit in stupid actions. Idiocy and big egos don't help anything, ever...

Hope you're not running slicks on your cruiser this winter...but then again, I live in Florida...what do I know?

My faith in my Tacoma was solidified when we got a 19" snow a month after I bought my truck. Granted, I had brand new tires but they were Dunflops. I got around great - just kept up the momentum in the deep drifts and blew right through.

A Silverado was hanging back watching as I dove into my unplowed street off the main strip. I plowed the 75 yards to my driveway just fine. He jumped in using my tracks and got a truck-length in before he got completely stuck. I assume he was 2WD, but still...

I have Dynapros now and haven't seen snows over 3" in a winter and a half, lol.

This week has been in the single digits and lots and lots of snow. I have been quite impressed with the truck. I attribute more to the tires (Michelin AT2's) than the 4WD system. I just hit the LSD and if that doesn't do it then 4WD and then A-Trac if in real trouble. No problems at all even on unplowed roads with deep snow. I even went coyote and rabbit hunting in virgin snow on a dirt road. Almost got it stuck but RR-Lock got me out.

Unrelated: I sure like parking in an underground garage at work. It's 5 degrees outside and 45 in my parking stall. Finally all the frozen ice has melted off the wheel wells and frame.

I currently have Michelin LTX MS2 (mostly for daily drive to work) but I also have a set of BFG's. The LTX did awsome in 8 inches of snow over ice(I'm currently in Arkansas). Never had one problem. Passed lots of idiots in ditch who do not know how to drive on ice. It all comes down to skill and yes tires do make a difference. I've never had any issues with the ABS or TC or ALLTRAC, love my Taco, dry, snow, ice, sand.

Tried to search but not having much luck..(not finding what i was looking for, and a bunch of threads that are no help keep popping up).. Anyone know what the DCSB TRD off road weighs?

Brother and i kinda got in to an argument about weather his ’09 4 runner or my taco weigh more and which is better in snow. I found out the curb weight of the 4 runner is 4045LBS

Fix-Or-Repair-Daily. I would buy a Ford if I had to buy American designed though.

I think they run fine in winter. It's not as good as my old 98 Subaru outback, but that only makes sense. Trucks got more power, and full time AWD cuts out a lot of sudden slips on the winding roads around here. If its really bad out, I'll use 4hi, but winter is not a huge challenge on the truck. I worry more about the salt.
I've slipped a few times, but it wasn't bad. I'm also on rugged fails (soon to be upgraded)

I would really like to know, but it was like 72 yesterday here in NC so I doubt snow is likely this year.:(

I work in the gas patch and have seen every truck there is put to the test. Nothing goes in the snow like a toyota.
