I miss mod days and actual wheeling. Most people here are dirt road kinda “wheelers”. Still looking for someone who actually knows shit to help me out with my rear suspension. Planning on doing a Chevy 63 swap with longer shocks. Need to replace my clapped out Fox 2.0s and clapped out All-Pro leaf springs.

Biggest pain in the ass will be shocks. Everything is so damn long for wait times.

Now that you're in the desert, are you still looking to do rock wheeling or dune jumping? If the latter check out JD Fab's 62 swap. I threw it on mine because I want to have a do everything, go everywhere truck and the gains to up-travel while minimally losing a little down-travel over the 63s steered me that way. It's a huge pain in the ass to install but so is the 63 swap.

Also, was good meeting with you guys @Sasquatch3153 @CygnusX191 ! Next time you come, hopefully we can hang out a bit longer.:fistbump:

Gaining uptravel is rare these days, most lifts just cut down travel. May have to save this rabbit hole in my "future imaginary mods" folder

I was gonna say WTF shocks are easy.... Lol. What about having yours rebuilt? Or do you need something drastically different with the leaf swap?

I got a whole bunch of info on my build thread with photos. You get 17" of wheel travel with a 14" travel shock because it's run forward of the axle. The most expensive part is the leaves themselves. Deaver H70 or H70HDs and they went up in price after I bought mine due to steel costs.

Still want to focus on rock crawling but be comfortable at speed in the desert. Thanks for the info about the JD Fab stuff, it's been another rabbit hole looking into suspension stuff again. Reason I started looking into 63s is because I'd spend just about the same with bolt ons with less articulation. The All-pro leafs I have are now like $700, plus whatever shock relocation and rear hangers I would buy plus shocks. Figure the truck is now 12 years old and time to try something different. Wife is due for a new car soonish so her 4Runner will be my daily.

I've been asking shops around here and the wait time is like 6+ months. Idk if that just for "stock" replacements but still a long ass time. My shocks wouldn't work. When I bought the rear kit from All-Pro I'm pretty sure the shocks were too short for even that application. I got a ton more research to do but for sure know they wouldn't work with 63 swap.
