Yeah, I could do it if I had time....... But don't. And since there's so much, makes sense to get it up on a lift and get it all done quickly.
I'm right around 40 and 170. But would drive anywhere.. I drive thousands of miles away in this thing every couple months.. A long drive is fine, if it's to a good person.
    thanks

MT Schiele Auto Repair the owner is an avid wheeler, and has been out with us at several events. They're big Toyota fans too.

    As far as dealerships go:

Twin City Toyota are absolutely top notch, have some wheelers and buggy build guys working for them.

Ackerman Toyota have some solid techs, some wheelers and old school overlanders working there

Pappas has in recent years taken on lifted trucks w/ proper alignments and all of that jazz.

You'll want to avoid Weiss Toyota like the plague, they sell stolen vehicles and absolutely WILL break your stuff and then bill you for it. Ask me how I know :bananadead: lol

That's just the tool you need, if you come across a 1 foot long patch of mud.

(I've got real ones, but have never had to use them.. Airing down has always saved me so far)

I haven't had the opportunity to help anyone else yet, but am well prepared.

Has anyone here ever had to be recovered (towed) from way out on the trail?

I'm never too worried in MO.. We're pretty well populated. Could always walk to help. But I travel out west a lot and camp. Drive up some roads I really feel like I should not be taking my heavy rig on, but get up to beautiful secluded mountain lakes, etc. So, it's worth it. Or I go way out in the desert, hundreds of miles away from anyone. With my wife and 6 year old.. It's a little scary to think about what could go wrong.. So.. I try not to :). Well, I try to be as prepared as humanly possible.. Then, not think about it.

I had a valve stem blow up last summer. SUPER lucky I was in Roswell NM at the time, and not 100 miles out in the desert.. I didn't have a way to fix that. Oh, I do have a full size spare, but my lugs were too tight.. I twisted two completely off before I called for help. If I was out in the desert, tho.. Could be dead! (probably not, but could be)

Radios and never wheeling alone are a key.

Also yeah whatever one said about having to tow @TacomaDad18

I don't know of anyone who's ever sunk their truck in a really deep puddle/monstrous lake and had to be recovered either.... :anonymous:

So this is just me spitballin' but it's fairly accurate and maybe somewhat overkill.
So #1 would be to carry something like a Garmin InReach incase you are outside service area, and you get hurt. Next best thing would be a GMRS and knowing local stations. Also, make sure someone you trust, knows where you're headed to, and when to expect you back so if you don't make it back they know where to send the Helo.
    #2 First Aid Kit.
#3 A winch and some tackle can get you out of a lot of spots, when there's trees. if there's no trees you can hook it through the spare and bury it, or get a deadman offroad anchor. Do a lot of research on how to use this stuff safely and effectively.
#4 is making sure you have a spare at the very least, and some kind of repair kit for tires. If all you have is your one spare and you puncture two tires, bummer.
#5 Tool kit. I always bring everything I'd need to fix 90% of the things I'm capable of doing on the trail. Off the top of my head, I bring a wrench set, socket set, Dead Blow, Ballpeen, C-Clamp, impact gun, couple of screwdrivers, pliers, side cutters, and plenty of criminal bondage ties (zipties). I also carry a couple quarts of every fluid. Oh and extra fuse and a fresh air filter in case I'm in dusty conditions. Also keep a bag of kitty litter to protect the trails from any fluids leaks.
#6 A fire extinguisher wouldn't be terrible idea and I should probably get one myself for the truck.

#? redundancies may be overkill in most situations, but if I'm going way out I carry extra UCA joints, bolts, ubolts, etc. I'd like to keep a spare CV around.

anyone feel free to chime in.

If youre rock crawling, having a 1310 u-joint and a CV axle is a good idea. But also keep in mind, the more of the AutoZone you pile into your truck, the more weight you have and therefore, the more likely you are to break something.

I've got almost all of that. I have HAM and GMRS and CB.. Cb won't do much away from the highway, tho. And a lot of the places I go, ham/gmrs don't do much for me either. No InReach, but thought/thinking about it.
I don't carry spare truck parts like ball joints, etc.. Seems like I need a ball joint press w/ me too, for some of these.. I do have a full tool kit, sockets, etc. I have a good tire repair kit. Fuses.
Not a bad idea to learn what bolts and other parts are prone to breaking and have those, too.

-Slashaar, I just noticed your in KC, and the first thing that pops in my mind is, Damn, must be nice to be 4 hours closer to the mountains :).

My SPC UCAs are held in the UCA with a 30mm nut. no press required.
Again, as Timm said, I'm more biased toward rock crawling than overlanding.
