Stock wranglers are already looking worn at 20k mi. Just a tad above ol' lincoln's head when checking.
worth it to shell out the extra dough on 255/85/16's? Seems to be running about $230ish a tire. I'd be opting for the Coopers.
Or just stick with the 265/75/16's?. I don't have the cash for a lift, so the 255's are the only way to a 33" tire right now.

dont need a lift to run big tires. i had 35s on stock for a bit. but that depends on trimming and hammering.

Cool thing about large tires is that if you are patient enough they will "self clearance."

unless you plan on warrantying a bumper or something it doesnt matter. anything mechanical is still covered.

I'm just saying I don't want to rub everything away and cause undue stress by stuffing tires in there without proper clearance.

I cross posted to a couple of FB groups and IH8MUD about organizing a Float Trip during the Fall Crawl w/TAC at Flat Nasty. Just wondering if there is anybody I missed over here that would be interested in a half day float trip on Friday afternoon or Saturday. Of course weather could be dicey but I am predicting a glorious Indian Summer weekend.

The vendor we will use is Jadwin Canoe rental and they will pick us up and drop off at the main entrance to Flat Nasty. Probably float the Cedar Grove to Akers section. If we have a good sized group a discount will be provided.

Let me know if you are interested and whether you want a canoe or kayak.
More information can be found here http://jadwincanoe.com

Hilift yes. Also grab a slider adapter for the hilift. That helps a ton when you jack via the sliders. It's how I rotate my tires. Super easy.

I did the 255/85 Coopers on stock lift / wheels (still on stock wheels) and I never regretted it. Still love the tires and they perform amazing but it won't satisfy that need for a wide tire stance. So pick what is more important for you and spend your money there.

I've seen those adapters. I was thinking of one down the road possibly. I think they're a tad pricey for what they are.
I don't care if it has a cool looking stance, or aggressive looking tred. I'm looking for functionality. Will the 255/85 really give that much of a change in clearance vs the 265/70? It's quite the difference in price is the only issue. i wish there was a 255/85 less than $230 each.

Soft shackles can work for this as well. If you are good with knots or following along with YouTube video you can save some cash. Takes about 20' of 3/8" synthetic line. Some places that sell bulk will sell that at reasonable price if they have some remnants.

alright, poked around some more and figure 265/75/16's will be the best option from an cash saving point. Those will still give me another inch (31.6") vs the stock wranglers, and cost less than the 265/70/16's. Primarily because they're SL rated vs the E-rated. Hopefully that doesn't screw me when it comes to the trails. The wranglers have been fine at the same load range.

You will be fine. E load is excessive for a taco, but you can run these at 15psi in dirt

    The 255/85's?
I prolly have 5k mi worth of good tread left. Which is 3 months for me. I have time to shop around if the deal comes back somehow.

Damnit! Lol. Theyre at $230 now!!
Might go cheap again. It said there was 2 left last time i was looking. Problem with buying those is you don't get the warranty like discount tire will give you.
