    Yeah.
    ^This. While not a radio, I bought a Firestone RideRite kit from Walmart.com, not realizing they have "authorized dealers" of which Walmart is not one. Somehow I missed the fact that it was shipped from a "returns center," had been opened on the bottom, and was missing 2 pieces. Couldn't get them to send me the missing pieces, and even the authorized dealers didn't want to sell me the parts since they were $70 plus shipping. Luckily I was able to fabricate the parts for cheap. But not a great experience.

    Anyway, I just went the CB route for a radio and went through RightChannelRadios, but they don't carry HAM stuff.

    @headhunter247 truck looks good!

    Wife is TDY on an Army post and just sent me a tirade about how shitty the temporary housing is and I’m over here just laughing my brains out about how pampered Air Force people are.

    Any word yet on the October mod day? I’d really like to come out again and hang, don’t really have much truck stuff going on. Also want to get a peek at the 70 series @G.T. :thumbsup:

    Check my build thread...too much to list.
    It’s cause she’s at a small Army post. Most big Army Post now have their lodging contracted out to Holiday Inns I think.

    We kinda talked about it but never hammered out a date. I’ve got a few projects to do on my truck that have been set aside for awhile that need attention. I’d like to get some help with those before the Arkansas event.

    She’s mad that she had to go to the desk to claim lining and towels. No Hilton Rewards cars perks there.

    I’ll help with what I can, I wouldn’t mind seeing what the Arkansas event is all about either. It sounds like it’s close to my bday, so I may be able to leverage some free time.

    Just kidding, sorta. Got to drive in the rain this morning so my uni-balls don’t squeak as bad as they did before. Need to just hit them with a hose when I actually wash the truck in the eventual future.

    We are trying to get an electric site but can go primitive, just have to load water from one of the other sites before we setup. Haven't heard back from the campsite yet.

    If you really want a radio, I would do a mobile over a handytalky. Handhelds dont have the range, and you may lose some transmission distance from being inside the vehicle.

    If you REALLY want a radio, I would stand behind @G.T. on the 857D, but youll either need two antennas, or a duplexer. I used to have an Icom 706mkiig in the Taco, and now its just sitting at the house. Id use it in the 4runner, but you cant find the face disconnect cable anymore. Im also half tempted to sell it, but it has some history...

    Yeah.
    From what I can tell, other than the electrical sites, it's "primitive" camping which is basically finding a spot in a field. They seem to have plenty of room, but it will likely still feel a bit crowded. They also have 2 grass runways for small planes, and this is the same weekend as the Byrd's Fly-In.
