I think so far our plan is to hit sand dunes then go across southern Colorado and make our way over to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. From there, who knows.. mostly depends on how much time we spend doing stuff prior to that.

10-4. Let me know what days you'll be in the area. We'll plan something.

@JTFisherman might be able to make it ??

Current plan is to haul ass out on Sunday and be in the area Sunday night or first thing Monday morning (depending on how early we hit the road). The less time spent in Nebraska (or Kansas), the better.

I am off Tuesday the 2nd but I have a 4 mile hike to my truck/to catch a bus back to base camp to get cleaned up after backpacking for a few days before y'all will want to be around me.
There is a trail I found but haven't drove from East of Trinidad Co to East of Raton NM (goes through Lake Dorothy state park) looks promising that y'all could take south then drive down to Cimarron NM, the NRA Whittington Center is along the way and they have a cool gun museum and store, range, etc.
From just north of Cimarron you can take cerrososo road northwest back to the Colorado border. I have driven the majority of the road and it is well maintained gravel with some detours that you will want 4wd sometimes 4lo. Very pretty road through some of the best elk hunting land in NM- I found a shed from a ~300" bull a few days ago.
A bit more out of the way but there is also a rough gravel road up green mountain by Eagle Nest about 20 miles west of Cimarron on hwy 64 with great views- I have done a good portion of the trail. Let me know your plans there are a few other stops you could make along the way if you want to make the detour on the way to sand dunes or something.
If you don't have a strict agenda I reccomend it because it is amazing just how desolate some of the land is.

Is that where the leaning tree is next to the straight u-turn where the corner turns in to a slope 2 miles off the road where the sidewalk has bushes all around the river?

That whole section of states can just disappear and I wouldn’t be sad - ND, SD, NE, KS. Definitely the worst part of heading to the mountains

    Brake fluid would be beneficial

A flare nut wrench too if you don’t have one

:D it gets real boring by the time you hit Grand Island exit, look at your map, you still have aways to go to hit North Platte :goingcrazy:
but by then you are near home free to CO border

My brother (@Tigerian) didn’t understand why we complained about Nebraska so much until the first time he made that journey. He said it wasn’t so bad, then he looked at the map and realized how much more Nebraska was left lol

I try to drive through that whole section at night, not like you are missing anything lol

Never been to wall drug, there’s too many signs for that place! They start in Minnesota and are like every 5 minutes until you get close then it’s every 30 seconds

@G.T. has a set of standard brake line wrenches that could work depending on the size @Taco16Jessy
...that is as long as Zeus himself didn't fuse that thing on there like he did mine:bananadead:

All Tacoma generations use a 10mm flare wrench.
