You can take me off the list. I have to be back Sunday by 10:30am to get ready for work and SMORR is just too far away to try and wake up early and get back in time. I think me and some friends may just hit up some local places Saturday.

Went in for an oil change yesterday and got it back with the skid plate in the bed instead of under the truck.

It is a shop in Starkville MS
Aftermarket plate but it has a big ass hole to drain oil:IMG_20190927_092030032_HDR.jpg
First time i got the truck back they told me I was all good to go and I went out to check the skid after I saw them taking it off in the shop and it was sagging on one side, so I checked it and only the passenger front bolt was in, the other 2 were missing. I don't want to find out what would happen if the front of that thing came loose while I am driving so I went back In and asked them to please put the other two in.

They brought it in and out again and when I checked it the two nuts were just sandwiching the splash pan and skid , and not supporting them from the cross member like the third nut was, and the bolts were missing washers. I brought the guy out to show him and after commenting how if he knew the skid would be this big a pain they wouldn't have done it, and me showing him how you don't have to remove it to change oil, they brought it in again and I followed and figured out the reason they couldn't get it back correct is 3/6 nuts up front had clips broken off of them:

i think i have a couple of those broken or stripped up front on my stock plate too, i was checking it out underneath for removal to get powder coated, since I have never taken that plate off myself ever i wasn't sure how many bolts are in but a couple are missing for sure

that would not be good for it to fall off while on the highway for sure!

They thought they had to take it off to get the oil filter I think. When I showed them how you get it from the wheel well I was told "man ain't nobody tryin to do all that" I had to refrain from a response to that...

Definently learned my lesson to show the tech to use the big ass hole with the drain plug above it to drain the oil and access the filter from the wheel well... If I ever take it in to get an oil change again

Yes best case it would just hang down and shoot Sparks everywhere, but id be worried it would catch on something and turn it into a big lever and break the rear bolts and do some seriuis damage under the Tacoma or the vehicle behind me

shortest interval I’ve done lately was 8,000 and that’s only because I had a 4,000 mile trip coming up and didn’t want to find some place to f it up along the way.

im typically in the 10-12,000 range

bet you’ll do it yourself from now on. I’ve never met an oil change jock that knew anything about cars.

I had an oil change done AT TOYOTA and they took off my OEM TRD PRO skid instead of using the access panel....

...and then failed to put it back on right

after that and the fact they severely over torqued both the canister, canister drain and oil drain I was done with the dealer service department.

Yes I should have. Biggest thing keeping me in what to do with the used oil.

What do you guys do with it?
