I would second @jAndyMendo's recommendation of Rico's for their Super Taco and add Los Altos Taqueria in Mountain View-it's on Old Middlefield Way and Rengstorff. A little farther North on Old Middlefield is Las Muchachas. The two spots are vastly different but each has great tacos.

Has anyone here had Tacolicious before? They’ve got locations in the city, a stall at the ferry building farmer’s market and I think one in the peninsula. My fiancee and I tried it out last night for a tasting and chicken and beef, it’s okay. Chorizo and Carnitas, Holy Smokes batman. We were almost ready to just flat out say we want this at the wedding.

For the carnitas, they caramelize the meat somehow so it has this rich, molasses-ey taste that almost is like St. Louis style ribs. They’re putting a new location a few blocks from my office as a grab-n-go....

i used to go to the one in palo alto because i could bring my dog to the outdoor tables and they made great margaritas. when they first opened they has a killer filet mignon taco, but thats gone now and the beef is just good enough. carnitas were meh. margaritas still perfect and their neon orange sauce is :bananadead:

There are a couple left off this list.

Tacos Sinaloa on e 12th definitely has the carnitas.

But for everything else El Paisa@.com on international and 49th is the best.

It’s blown up like crazy recently but La Grana on the weekends is absurdly good. Quesabirrias, mulitas etc

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Why didn't I make some breakfast tacos this morning? Bah. There needs to be a breakfast taco truck somewhere on my route.

Back in 1992, an ole’ Mexican meat cutter and I were talking in Spanish. “Paco” loved me and always called me “mijo” or “mi hijo” —meaning “my son”. One day, the produce manager came up to Paco and I while we were stocking the meat counter and said to us, “Damn it, this is America! Speak English!”

I explained to him how California once belonged to Spain and later Mexico, and that in fact it had spent more time as a Spanish speaking state than an English speaking state. Then, jokingly I told him “California is conquered lands, we’re just waiting for the next shipment of arms from Mexico to take it back!” The produce manager just laughed, shook his head, and walked away.

That day has come. Be careful what you wish for. Today, it’s taquerias and taco trucks.

    Tomorrow is the cartels.

    RIP California.
