Trip Report: 2 year anniversary weekend getaway

Our weekend started off low key, there's been a bug going around and of course we both catch it a day before the trip. We had been planning this get away for some time now so we really didn't want to take a rain check. To make things easier we opt for single vs double night trip. Slept in on saturday for the extra rest, shrugged around the house a bit, and headed up the pass around midday.

With so much open terrain around us we always make an effort to explore new trails looking for the next 'perfect' spot. We started climbing a new peak that looked promising, got to the end....

and both of us let out a huge sigh.

Not much pisses us off more than inconsiderate assholes that don't pack out their trash. A bear must have enjoyed themselves because bags had been dragged all over the damn place. I'd normally pick this crap up, but there was just too much.

Looking closer at some of the trash... the mark of quality individuals...

    Bummed out we pressed on...

A mile or so down the way we ascended up another peak that we've never been up and struck gold. 360 degree panoramic views with nothing in the way! This spot is perfect.

    Mt Rainier in full view

    Obligatory truck shots....

    flowers, flowers, everywhere

Sammy giving no fucks about said flowers

Cynthia exploring around and making sure our pup didn't derp himself down the slope

Our living room/kitchen for the eve

New stove break in done right, mmmeaty!

We enjoyed our meal over one hell of a sunset

    and... More truck shots!

    Conclusions:
    -People are cunts.
-Despite the cunts, we had a great trip and looking forward to many more this season.
-The truck performed great out there.
-With the addition of the ifs skid the suspension actually moves and no longer feels like it's made of bricks.
-Need to plan a cleanup trip #becausecunts.

Wow.. Probably kids from North Bend, or Cle elum. Thats sad though, i'd be down for a clean up trip. Looks like one hell of a view though. Did you air down? This weekend I stayed at high PSI and it was hell on the fs road on the way up.. on the way back I was at 10psi and I floated over it. HUGE difference.

Still in disbelief that people leave trash out here... if they're into the outdoors doesn't that generally mean they like being out there?.... why turn it into a dump? ugh...

Naw didn't air down, the compressor still needs to be wired up. I ran out of time last week but will hopefully get that squared away this week, even if that means it'll be a rat nest up under the hood. I'm sure the ride will improve a ton once I can let out some pressure. Washboard and general potholes were still a tad rough but much better than my last shakedown run.

I was amazed how big of a difference it made, honestly I didn't really feel any washboard at all. Yeah we need to clean that place up though

    Build Update: Diff breather

Might have gone overkill on this but I had the extra -6 AN hose from the other money pit and it fit perfect. Now to get around to installing the extended braided brake lines... been also putting that off for way too long.

Trip Report: 4th of July weekend

This 3 day weekend was supposed to be full of fishing with my Xterra bud... but, it was mostly spent trail clearing. All in all we had a great time.

    Day 1:

First snag in the trail... well for the xterra.

Explored for most the day searching for 'the spot' with little luck. Then as the sun dipped past the horizon we found something that fit the bill.

    Day 2:
Come morning the wind was unbearable

After a quick meal we were off

Not too far from camp more obstacles

Good thing I don't have a RTT, I lost count of how many trees we had to slither under or cut down.

A few hours through overgrown and uncleared trail we reach one hell of a washout... (Photo doesn't give the scale any justice, it was pretty crazy)

With our lake a mile or so away we contemplated hiking it but we were already pretty beat and decided to head back out.

I've been very impressed with the suspension this trip, after crossing many of these I decided to stop and check things out.

After a bit more traveling we reverted to common ground and went to an old camp spot we had found last year. The sunset was unreal as usual.

No better way to end a long day, one bloody fine cut of meat.

    Day 3:
It was evident that the area we camped at was surrounded by old tailing piles, I'm unsure what they were mining but one thing is for sure the few puddles we crossed left some rather odd and gnarly blue stuff on our tires when dry.

Last few shots before heading home

Back to civilization, now to clean that sediment off everything and have a beer.
