Thanks! I'm a big fan of Noveske. I've built two rifles with their products; a bit pricey though.

I ask this to almost everyone I see that has a OME 3" lift but how do you like yours? Are the road manners good? What's the ups and downs of it that you've seen?

Bottom line up front: I love the lift and recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to put remote reservoir coil-over shocks or a long travel kit on their truck.

As far as road manners, the 886 coils are too stiff without armor. It gives me the full 3" of lift, but small bumps (washboards, etc) are horrible; on the other hand though, large bumps / jumps at +50 mph are fun as hell. Seriously though, the stiff coils are safe as far as I've experienced. High speed evasive maneuvers and sudden unexpected bumps (pot-holes, ditches) at speed are handled beautifully, and traction is greatly improved off-road. I have a Pelfreybilt Off-road rear bumper on order, and will eventually add a front bumper and winch - hopefully this will smooth the road-ride out a bit. If it doesn't, I'll add full skids underneath. If even more weight doesn't soften things up, I'll switch to 887 coils (or whatever I deem appropriate after much research).

    Pros:
    - Achieved full 3" of lift with no noticeable sag (measured) after +1year.
    - Off-road tested and has held up great.
    - Dakar leaf packs helps the truck tow/haul more weight.
    - Greatly improved traction and handling off road.
    - Less expensive that Fox/King/Icon coil-overs.
    - Easy to install. Total install time was ~6 hours with two people.

    Cons:
    - I believe it required new UCA's for correct front alignment. Note that this was not tested. I installed new Total Chaos UCA's at the same time Iinstalled the lift, and had the truck aligned for the first time post-lift with both. Correct alignment specs were achieved.
    - 886 coils are too stiff without armor; even for a double cab.

I think this lift is great and most likely I will never change it. If I do anything, I'll upgrade to Fox/King/Icon coil-over’s only after I've completely worn out the ARB front shocks.

    I hope this helps!

So you got a full 3" of front lift with the 886s and you didn't add top plate spacers?

Correct. I actually got a little more than 3" without top spacers. I have "taco lean" on the driver's side by ~0.5", but it's not noticeable by anything less than a tape measure.

Hmm maybe I'll just need 886s then, thanks for letting me know!

Hey Hunter how well does the garmin in street app work for directions? I have the same ipad setup and experienced quite a bit of non cell coverage for my ipad this weekend so I was looking into gettin the garmin glo and using it in that scenario. Does it connect only via BT? Thanks, Grant

Also what obd2 scanner did you get for dash command?

    Hey Grant,

The Garmin GLO works great with the Garmin StreetPilot app, as well as my topographic map applications (Gaia GPS and Topo Maps). It is really accurate and always acquires a signal quickly. As far as navigation, the StreetPilot app has been accurate for Alaska, and most of the time uses the correct route (i.e. the fastest route or shortest route, depending on what it is set to). We have very little cell coverage outside of the developed areas in Alaska, so this was an absolute must for me. I've used it when conducting range reconnisance for work (my Gaia GPS app can give me a 10-digit MGRS grid), off-road trips, and general Alaska travel. I connect mine via BlueTooth, and this is what I would reccommend. My GLO is hard wired to the ignition, and the iPad is plugged into the Sony head unit, so both devices turn on and connect when I turn the truck on (I don't have to manually connect the GLO to the iPad under the Settings menu); it is really that seemless. The GLO comes with a micro USB cable, but it would get tricky to connect that to an iPad.

I've only had one problem so far, and that was the first Garmin GLO device I purchased quit functioning properly - it could no longer acquire a satelite siginal. I bought another GLO and intend to send the other one back under warranty. There are a couple possible sources for this problem: the most likely is the -40F winter we just had. I figured if anything, the cold would destroy the battery. It didn't (as far as I can tell) and I have it hard wired into the power of the truck anyways, so I wasn't concerned. The other possibility is that it was a manufacturing defect (lemon). I've read some reviews on the GLO that described similar issues - it could be hit or miss.

I use the Bluetooth GoPoint OBD-II reader. It was the device recommended on the Dash Command website. So far it has been working great. It also automatically connects, but it requires the Dash Command app to be open on the iPad. Essentially, if the iPad comes on when the truck starts (key turned on in the ignition), all you have to do is open the Dash Command app and the app/iPad will automatically connect to the GoPoint OBD-II reader and stream data to the app.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I have all of the equipment / aftermarket parts listed on the first page of the build thread for reference.

    Hunter

I really like it. It is stout as hell and really cleans up the lines underneath. There is a lot more clearance than the OEM bumper. It looks great too.

I've had a highlift, shovel, and axe mounted to my bed rails for two years now without a single problem. I may take them off when I leave Fairbanks though.
