    I'm glad I finally got to see this completed. Any beauty shots of the trailer in it's intended use case?

    There’s finished pics on page 2 and 3. Nothing yet with the finished tongue and box yet. I’ll make sure to get more recent pics next time I get it out.

    Love this! Been wanting to do a teardrop for awhile now.

    Nothing is ever finished.

    Would you say it would be more cost effective to just fabricate the base of the trailer, as instead of buying one from Lowe’s? I always see them in the parking lot in St. Robert Lowe’s, and gets me wanting to have a go at a project like yours.

    In my case yes it would’ve been cheaper to just fab a frame from scratch. I ended up only using the square frame and axle. I started with trailer because I thought it would make it easier to license with an existing VIN number. But I think in Missouri you can license a scratch built without a VIN. Etrailer.com has all the parts like axles, wheel spindles, suspension, lighting and wiring.

    Appreciate the response, came across a bunch of 2x2 square stock, figured could make for a good base.

    Yeah that sounds good. Just make sure it’s thick enough wall to handle the stress.

    You didn’t ask me, but I suggest looking at eTrailer. They have everything you need, good prices, great customer service.

    I have no ties to them, only a satisfied customer.

    No the original hubs and axle are holding up great so far. I've actually bought quite a few parts from eTrailers.com. I wish I'd discovered them before I bought the trailer from Lowe's. They sell all the stuff to scratch build except tube steel.

    @MachRanger

    Very impressed with the outcome of this teardrop. Very functional and if I had not read this thread, assumed it was done by a trailer manufacturer.

    :thumbsup:

    For tube steel check out https://www.onlinemetals.com/ They have discounts all the time, sign up for the emails. 25% off right now. I bought steel for sliders through them, 8' x 2" x 2" .125" thick cost about $80 with 20% discount.

    All of my local shops want an arm and a leg, and the only reasonable priced shop doesn't carry square tube.

    I found square tube steel from Midweststeelsupply.com that I used when I rebuilt the tongue. For small jobs I thought their prices were reasonable.
