    f*ck that sucks.

get the insurance check and replace the parts. you can wait to find the right parts yourself then get them painted, sell the old ones, and use the saved cash to pay off the added insurance cost. besides dents they are 100% right? or are the doors mechanically screwed up?

thats the plan. everything is 100% cosmetic, so theres no huge rush. at this point just going to wait and see what they offer me.

some options at this point are

-brand new doors and bedside through a body shop/insurance
    - take the check and wait around to find used ones in my area, maybe even in the right color
    - bang the dents out best i can (my landlord who owns a body shop would help), deal with the creases that are left and take the money and use it to pay the truck off sooner than planned.

well see friday i guess. its kind of weird, when my car got hit in a parking lot i could not stand seeing the damage on it. when i look at this damage, im kinda looking at it like "its a truck, it adds character and i was using at as a truck and will continue to use it as a truck" but maybe im crazy, idk it is pretty much a brand new truck

maybe, all depends on how much the check is for and what the cost is to go that route. got to weigh it all out, see how much cash is offered and what the actual estimates are for the different options from the guy doing the work.

only thing i dont want is something to be real half assed and look like crap. i would take the dents in the door over cracking bondo or paint that doesnt match any day.

another thing i need to think about is resale value down the road. how the different options will effect that.

after all, at least its not a lease....

The meatball was the leader so Mark can take it up with her :puke:

    New door skin $536
    New AC door skin $387
    New bedside $467

then add in some cash for getting a pro paint job and you should be able to do it yourself for less then 2k.

if you get stuff from the scrapyard you should be able to do much better

If you get anything over 3k for damages the rest goes into your pocket.

where you finding this stuff? i want to check it out. I called a few local junkyards, but no luck with the doors. they said they are hard to come by.

when it says skin, that just means its the outer piece of sheet metal right? so you have to grind off the old one and weld the new one onto the door frame?

I'm sure Mike (mjp2) knows more about this topic then me. He just replaced his doors & I'm not sure what route he went. Hit him up.

yea i know it will show on that. but at least if its fixed professionaly and i have the documents to show, it shouldnt hurt it too bad. were talking about some dented doors, not a salvage vehicle. someone may not be bothered by it if it is done right, if its half assed together then they might not be too willing to offer close to whatever my asking price would be

yea i know that. im just saying ill still have a clear title in my hand.

think about this, would you rather buy something from someone that has a clear title, before pics of the damage, documents to show the work done, and the doors look great?

or buy the same truck with a clear title, but cracking bondo, unmatched paint, etc.

bet you would offer less for the second option, if at all
