?

Will I end up with a functional 5.7L Tacoma?

  1. Yes. I watched you're video and I have faith in you.

  2. Probably. I mean, you already have a whole Tundra for parts.

    41.1%
  3. Maybe. If you're a Toyota tech and have an engineering degree.

  4. Probably not. If it was possible, other guys would already have it done.

I recently realized the 3URFE engine does not have EGR valves, it only has air injection.

Tacundra 25 is all about making the air injection disappear. I'm slowly catching up with videos - Actually I have been starting to figure out wiring lately. I have a lot mapped out, but a lot more to do.

@JustDSM I heard you're the man with HP Tuners / Toyota truck experience here. Figured I'd tag you here rather than PM...

I'm planning to use the factory Tundra ECU with a MPVI2 in my 05 Tacoma. 3URFE engine is in the truck and I am deciphering the wiring integration now. Do you know if we can delete the fuel pump ecu with HPTuners? The Tundra has it, the Tacoma does not. I'm trying to decide if I should be installing the ecu in the Tacoma, or if I'd just be wasting my time.

P.S. I'm planning to boost the truck and use E85 after I workout any kinks with the swap. And if you want the exposure, maybe I could incorporate you into the YouTube series with a phone call or something.

First off, a big thank you for reaching out and the kind words! A bigger thank you to those who've entrusted me with their trucks and who might have passed my name to you. It's been quite the ride so far building a knowledgebase and exposure for our once very neglected platform(s).

I've got to say, I've been loosely following along as time allows with your build and have to say I'd love to help be a part of it. While I haven't done much with the Tundra platform, I have put a 2UZ in a '95 Toyota mini-truck that was setup for some pretty hardcore desert action. Also put a 3RZ into my '83 mini as well. So, if I can be of any assistance with your wiring I'm happy to help.

I've not looked at any of the 3UR wiring specifically so in all honesty, I'd have to read myself up on few things but my experience would tell me it can be bypassed. However, would you be worried about any kind of inspection/emissions issues or is your goal "off-road use"? There are some options and knowing the direction we're going may open up some doors that otherwise might not be possible. If you're going for a "inspection friendly" install then I'd encourage you to incorporate the fuel pump control ECU.

E85 and some positive pressure is always fun! Even more-so when you're talking blown V8 power! :headbang:

Whatever I can do, you've got me in your corner.

Does anyone have pinouts for these plugs? I need to convert the Tundra engine side to plug into the Tacoma relay box. For some reason my Mitchell ProDemand software totally ignores these. I figured out a few wires, but not all. Would love to have pinouts to make sure I'm right!

You tried the long tedious process of splitting the harness open and following the wires? You know someone with AllData sometimes their wiring diagrams are better than Mitchells. Ideally someone with the factory repair software on here could look it up for you.

Yes, I actually have opened up the Tundra relay box and split the harness to follow the wires! LOL I'm not planning to do that to the Tacoma harness though. I do think I have most of them figured out, but I would love to see the pinouts to make sure. ProDemand has a help line - I have never used it before, so they are way overdue for a phone call from me!

Yeah that shit of splitting open the harness and following wires will make you go cross-eyed for sure.

I have not started wiring yet, but I do have it all figured out on paper. Now I'm trying to finish a few more things before the cab gets bolted back down.
I decided to keep the stock fuel tank and incorperate the Tundra fuel pump ECU. I checked with my tuner (JK Tuning) here in Carlisle - He said with the new 525LPH in-tank pump (Walboro F0000285 or F0000295)
I will be able to keep the factory fuel lines and still run E85 with boost!
