HDPE is still expensive for a big sheet.
    ABS is affordable.
I might try to find an aluminum sheet myself. I would just feel like a clown ifni spent $200 on a piece of plastic (MH), even if it is nicely made.

Thought about buying two of these for tailgate picnics with the lady. The panel still doesnt give you back support lol

I had some extra rubber stall mat laying around so I cut a piece to fit and screwed it down. My dogs ride in the back, and this is mostly for them to not slip when they jump in and out. It also saves my knees. I left the bottom loose so I can easily hose it all out. Nothing fancy, but it works great for me.

I'm a fan of the Bed Rug tailgate mat. Custom fit. Less than $50 on Amazon.F9974839-58F0-4553-9FD6-8DEC34DD7921.jpg

Or just make your own. I used a piece of 3/16” 5052 aluminum and coated it with duplicolor truck bed coating.

I just installed my Snail Armor panel yesterday and I absolutely love it! It fits perfectly. I went with Snail Armor because they cut out the bottom section where the raised rib is on the tailgate. Most, if not all of the others just use a rectangular panel which doesn’t allow the panel to lay perfectly flat when it’s bolted down. It’s hard to explain without pictures but if you remove your factory panel you’ll see the rib I’m talking about. I don’t understand why the other manufactures don’t account for that.

I went with the ALoffroad trailgate; had a 20% discount code on one of the holidays otherwise i would have waited for a sale of some sort. I do like the rough texture on it. IMG_20210113_123543.jpg

I like the idea of a flat surface when camping, so I called up a local plastics company and they cut those for me in 3/8 HDPE. The cutouts aren't the prettiest, and I am waiting for some cup holders to arrive so I can maybe mount those in. $25 bucks. Not to shabby.

i was debating on either the snail armor panel or the mountain hatch panel. i decided on the mountain hatch because i didn't like how the snail armor has the cut out by the bottom of the panel closest to the truck bed which leaves an exposed painted metal area and i didn't want it getting dinged and or scratched up. so mountain hatch it was...

I have the PAKRAX 1/8” plug and play panel on my ‘17 PRO. Picket it up from State48 overland. Great product. Powder coating is pretty durable, price was great, and shipping at the time was free. Going for $135 on sale right now. Well worth it IMHO. In tandem with the Decked system it is a great upgrade. Great workspace when camping, cooking, or whatever.

    Cheers,
