My son backed my truck into a tree today. Luckily the only damage is a broken taillight housing. Where is the best (cheapest) place to get a new assembly? I was thinking eBay or Amazon, but I want to make sure I get genuine Toyota parts.

Genuine ones are under $150. Less if you only need the lenses. There's a ton of OEM parts dealers online I would go to them before Amazon or ebay. If you want to save a few dollars you can call around junk yards.

Facebook Marketplace. You can get OEM lights, which are far superior to ALL aftermarket lights, for under $100.

Ideally, aim for the 2019 red tails. They have a red lens, but the internal plastics (side of the turn signal bucket) are black. Easily the best looking OEM tails.

If you don't have FB Marketplace or don't know how to use it, make the kid find them for you... he caused this mess.

On a positive note, he broke the cheapest and easiest to replace body part.

I don't believe the lenses come loose from the housings. The OP will probably wish to match the right and left, so he is stuck with the Toyota units.
