Running lights on my ‘01 Tacoma (5VZ-FE) work except for the right rear. Although the right brake light is dim, the brake, reverse, turn signal & head lights all work. All interior lights are fine.

Replaced bulb & no change. Put a multimeter on both connectors with truck idling & off. At the connector, the left side was getting 11volts & the right side was getting 8Volts.

Hoping I don’t have to replace wiring. Gonna replace the relay (under the hood) but I hear some 1st Gen Tacomas have more than 1 tail light relay.

Anyone have this happen AND/OR have any suggestions?

Pull up a wiring diagram. The right side tail light wiring runs through the left side tail light. Most likely you have a damaged wire or corroded connector. I'd start by unplugging connectors and visually checking and following the wiring from the left tail light to the right tail light and visually checking. You can also you a multi meter to voltage drop from the left to righ tail light to pinpoint your resistance.

Thought you’d say something along those lines. I didn’t crawl underneath yet so it’s good to hear the right tail light feeds from the left.

    Appreciate your comment!

I had something similar and it was a grounding issue in my drivers side tail light. Just took it out and cleaned it up, new solder and heat shrink seemed to fix it.
