Has anyone needed to replace one or both of these socket/wiring assemblies due to overheating (or, stuck bulb, maybe brittle plastic)?
I like to keep common failure parts on-hand, and thought of this after sitting in stopped traffic on a steep hill for about 45 minutes this morning, pressing on the brake pedal. Was concerned that the brake lamp heat for that extended period of time might cause melting or degradation of the plastic socket.
    Thanks.

    Not a common failure point.

If you need to be stopped for more than a few minutes, put the vehicle in park and engage the parking brake.

Nope. The early truck had issues with the daytime running lights melting the lenses. But never heard of an issue with the rear lights. As of now, all my bulbs are the same ones it came with except one taillight bulb. I figure that’s pretty good for 17 years.

I went through and replaced all the bulbs in my '06 recently. No issues with the connectors, but the mounting tabs for the taillight housing seems quite brittle
