Some of us have access to service info through our jobs, there's also some FSMs to be found out there if one knows where to look;) we aren't allowed to post links here to them though.

09 diagram is actually slightly different but colors are the same, on Toyota White/Black wires are almost exclusively ground wires.

Yes grounds all go to common which could be the frame or the negative post on the battery etc... Electrically they are the same place.

Alright! Thanks for everyone who helped. The wiring diagrams were a life saver. I found the issue. Started from the inside of the cab where the wiring comes out of the fuse box, and cut away little spots on the main green wire to test. I got 12 volts until I got to the back of the truck where the green wires come together. It turns out a pesky little creature chewed the wire (hence why there was a little wire sticking out of the bundle of green showed in first post. I managed to find the unconnected green wire and connected them all together. Tail Lights now work!

Thank you all, TacomaWorld is literally the best!

Well, at least they didn’t chew the knock sensor wires.
For some reason, they like those wires.

Good to see you got it fixed:thumbsup:

Make sure you fix the spots you cut with some liquid tape or regular tape.

    The brake light wiring?
The only trailer plug wiring diagram is with a tow package, the 4 wire plug isn't shown on any diagrams.

Shoot, okay. Basically I just wanted to know the correct schematic for wiring the breaks into the turn signal pins of the 4pin I have everything re-wired and a new 4 pin, but neglected to wire in the break lights and wasn’t sure how that was supposed to look. (I already have the turn signal lights going into the turn signal pins of the 4 pin.)

This is the best I can find for without trailer tow.

Okay, thanks. Not sure that’s what I’m looking for. I guess I’m just afraid that if I splice the stop wire into the turn wire going into the 4 pin that something would go wrong…idk maybe that’s not an issue and it’s supposed to be done that way, I’m just no electrician and don’t know if that would cause issues.

Yea the trailer turn wires should be separate wires coming from the front, they don't splice into the rear stop/turn signals.

Okay, how do I get the stop wires to connect to the 4 pin then? I know they’re separate wires, but I was thinking that both the stop and turn wires were supposed to be connected to the turn/stop pins on the 4pin. (Making 2 wires go to left pin and 2 into right) make sense?

No the rear stop/turn circuits for the truck lights are completely separate from the trailer plug, the wires for the trailer plug should come from the towing converter relay if your truck has it.
Left trailer stop/turn should be red and right should be brown, if your tuck doesn't have the converter relay and wiring you will need an aftermarket towing converter box for your truck to wire in a trailer plug properly.

Not surprising, I see alot of trailer plugs that are wired improperly.

Yeah, thanks figured that out. I’ll be ordering a 5-4 wire relay box. My truck doesn’t have those nice quick connectors.
