Tried the search function with no luck.

Forgive my laziness, but was hoping someone here could help with this problem.

I backed my truck into a tree (i feel like an idiot). It cracked the passenger tail light and put a nice dent in the tail.

The tail light works fine when i turn the headlights on. The passenger side brake light doesn't illuminate though.

I thought this was the same bulb? What am i missing? How is it that one comes on but not the other?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I feel funny asking you this, but did you change the offending bulb with a known working one after the incident?

Planning to replace the bulb this weekend but wanted to see if it might be something more complicated.

I have a stupid habit of reversing and putting transmission in neutral and coasting into the final spot. Obviously this causes the reverse lights to go out, and the area wasnt well lit so i didnt see the tree.

Thanks for the help. If the bulb doesnt fix the problem i will be back!

Still dont understand how the bulb works for the tail but not for the brake...

the bulb has 2 parts, its not like it gets more wattage for brakes to make it brighter.

Like a low and high beam in 1 bulb.
