    Ok, yes. You should have been given a separate key that works for the tailgate. Look inside the top of the console (if you haven't already), just to be sure it's not clipped in there.
    2017 and up the key in the fob works the tailgate too.

    There that is probably true. I knew some years it was the same key some not. Was Worth a try.
    Did you buy the truck from a Toyota dealership? If so I'd ask if they can get you a tailgate key since one should have came with the truck.

    Nope. Honda dealership. Gonna call around and get a key priced out... But I don't have the tag that came with the keys either so I'm not sure how much the local yota dealership can do. We'll see.

    Still curious on what the difference is between the anti theft and the non-anti theft version of the cylinders are

    I'm curious too. I wonder if it's an edge cut key like the SR5 comes with or if it takes a laser cut key.

    Most dealerships are able to retrieve the factory key code using your VIN number, now of course the parts person is to ask for proof of ownership but many times they do not ask.

    Got the actuator from Amazon for $10 works just the same.
