tailgate alternative?

So my friend's tailgate got stolen. His wife doesn't want any color but white. He does not want to spend 350$+ on a oem replacement. What some other alternatives?

I know there's nets, what about a bed extender that maybe slides in instead of flips in when you're tailgate is up. any ideas would be great. and cheaper and looks better would be the criteria. Thanks.

Junkyard will probably be your best bet surf around Craigslist for a little while and you may get luck and find it. If you get a new one be sure to do this.

There are enough Tacoma's around that you should be able to find one in good shape.

 

Just tell your friend to steal one..............

Haha, just kidding man, i would try to find a used (not stolen) tailgate or find the SOB that stole his and re-acquire it!

i been searching craigslist all over texas and with no real luck, also, junkyards apparently dont carry them.. at least not the ones i've searched in dallas since i was looking for some spare parts and asked about tailgates.
