Wow, sure why not, 100 dollars worth of gas for a 20 dollar part seems counter productive

I went to town with a impact driver (hammer actuated not battery) and had no luck removing the dang bolt. I'll have to go to other methods/means to get it out I suppose. I've only had it for 4 months now without installing.

See my post #225 above. If you haven’t mangled the head, put a long pipe (breaker bar) on your wratchet with the torx bit and slowly torque it off. You need a lot of very slow torque to break it loose.

My tailgate is safe now!! The slow turn with breaker bar after a few hits with a punch seemed to make it break free.

I zip tied the TG to my bed stiffeners and it was a perfect height to get to the T40.

It was my Christmas Miracle install after reading all the difficulty with the screw removal.

Nice, there have been a few that have had a problem with the T40. Some didn't pull the tailgate, and others were just plain brutal, compared to the number sold it's a very low percentage.
I stand by my parts and test fit every single one before it leaves.
If you have a problem with your T40 or just dont want to attempt it, I will give you a full refund and pay to ship it back. 100% refund
Thx to all and have a safe and happy new year.

I didn’t put any on. I was just happy to get the T-40 off and didn’t think about putting some on. If I decide too it will be BLUE.

If you notice, under the head of the T40 there are teeth that bite in and hold very well, I would only use the thread lock to make it even tougher to get off.
I would use the red, but that's just me

Think I'll fill mine with epoxy or something that's hard as hell to dig out. That should discourage the snatch and grab thief even more.

BTW - This thread made me check CL to see if any newer Taco tailgates were for sale and the only one was a beat up 1995 for $125.

Could always jb weld the threads when installing, that will stop even you from taking it off

Yea, JB Weld was what I was trying to think of. I'm gonna put it in the Torx hole instead of the threads. I figure I can always chisel it out if I need to remove the tailgate but I might be wrong about that.

I like the idea of Red Loctite and JB Weld. I was trying to think of how many times I’ve taken off my tailgate after 3 Tacoma’s and 1 Tundra and I can’t think of any. Therefore, it might be a safe play to secure it more
