If it doesn't come out, try tightening it just a hair. Whatever it takes to break the threads loose, will help you remove it.

I fuked up my bolt trying to break it loose. Had to order another one. Should have banged on it with a hammer first. :bananadead:

The factory T40 has teeth on the underside so it bites in and are tough to remove sometimes, the best way is to remove your tailgate so your tool is not at an angle and you can get good leverage on it

I “screwed” mine up also. Those damn nuts just don’t come out. I did everything I could and still ended up stripping it:mad:. Gonna have to drill it out now. Another lesson learned.

Cut a slot in it with a Dremel and use a big screwdriver.

Not sure if it’s the solution but I tried what I did on my friends Taco and we got the screw out. We used heat, punch/hammer (4x’s) and then slow turn with breaker bar. Best of luck. It’s worth the effort.

Installed today. I was ready for a fight with that bolt after reading this thread. Got lucky. Mine didn't need much coaxing. A couple tries. A whack with a punch. Came out next try. No cheater bars, heat, impact...
