Tailgate assist

Is there a manufacture that makes a tailgate assist for a 2011 Tacoma ?

 

Assist as in anti-slam when opened or assist as in it helps you close the tailgate once already opened?

Have a F150 also used the Dee Zee tail gate assist and liked it, wondering if they make one for Tacoma cant seem to find one.

 

This is the only one. Most people that installed it had a problem with the cable getting worn. There's a zip tie fix that supposedly helps.

When I put in the make and model and comes back saying does not fit.

 

Maybe they quit making them due to the cable problems.

I can tell you positively that the 3gen OEM tailgate hinge is not a direct bolt in. Could it be modified to fit? Maybe.

 

The tailgate weighs like 13 pounds...

I have no problem with the tailgate my wife is a little over 100 pounds and was born with a birth defect in that she only has one arm.

 

That ought to shut the idiots up.

 

Just pull the latch and let it fall. Done that to mine several times. Doubt you are going to snap steel cable with this light tailgate

 

I’ve seen them on eBay but have not ordered one. It says it fits 2005-2015, but from what I’ve seen on this forum people with 12-15s have issues with them.

If I don’t like it I just take it off.

 

You can use a metal bracket to relocate the assist mechanism out of the way of your cable. @SaphiraTaco maybe he can post a picture.
